Got a cool $40k lying around? You’re in luck!
I’ll go ahead and say it now:
Who will ever need more than 100TB of storage?
And since the lifespan increases with capacity (write endurance, typical to what I have seen) this thing should last ages being used mainly like an archive of write-once data!
You haven’t heard about the upcoming China terrain?-)
I remember saying the same thing about a 1GB hard drive in 1997.
So now we have a good candidate drive for MSFS2020…
I can see a Formula 1 car carrying one of those. And a live big game sports camera.
Well, if we take Moore’s law (computational capacity doubles every 2 years) and say we use ~1 TB today, after 7 cycles (14 years) we’ll be at:
2^7 = 128TB
So that will be normal by roughly 2034!
Wait until we get 64K movies, we’ll need it then
I’m going to start making my World Ortho ZL19 tiles starting today…in about 4 years when my computer is done maybe I’ll have reached that…
Is it at least NVME? Sata III would feel like IDE with that volume.
