There’s going to be an awesome burn in period as they introduce this for all missiles, SAM and A/A , where the uninformed are repeatedly schwacked at ranges that make their eyes water.

I’ll be eating popcorn while browsing Hoggit. :laughing:

It is about time.
Quite some air defense systems in DCS are a joke compared to real life, where for example a Patriot or S-300 is frickin’ terrifying and practically cannot be defeated by a single plane.

Looks like there were updates to the Tarawa to include the new lighting and CIWS. I’m not sure why updates to the Harrier and Tarawa aren’t being included in the ED change log lately?

Tarawa defenses seem like a WIP, its very selective about what it wants to shoot down. Also the spawning still isn’t fixed…

Also…

The ai is making successful traps on it if not assigned to another airport.

That’s an old bug. I’d bet a significant amount of money the Tarawa unit is an inheritor of the Kuznetsov’s unit definition. I’d imagine that’s why helicopters spawn off the deck to the left, and that’s white it still has arrestor gear defined.

This isn’t one of those headline grabbing changes but it’s actually VERY cool for a couple of reasons. One is obvious, you can see much better out the front of the jet now. Second, there was a big thread started on the ED forums about this and many people saying that the HUD needed to be lightened up a bit.

Apparently in the end ED agreed with the community and made the change. Pretty nice thing to see in my opinion.

6. Maximum Aspect Cue
When an L&S target exists and is within Rmax of the selected weapon, the Maximum Aspect cue is displayed. This is a two digit number between 0 and 18 which represents the minimum aspect angle (in degrees x10) the target would have to create in order to defeat the shot. For example, a maximum aspect cue of 8 would indicate that the target could defeat the current shot by turning 80 degrees or greater. Also, included in the computation of the maximum aspect cue is ownship-to-target range. Thus, when this range is greater than Rmax or less than Rmin, the maximum aspect cue is 0. If the fighter-to-target range is between Rmax and Rne, the maximum aspect cue is a number between 0 and 18, and is dependent on intercept geometry. Between Rne and Rmin, the maximum aspect cue will always be an 18 indicating that even if the target turns to a 180° aspect, a missile intercept is still possible. As a result, the maximum aspect cue is also an indication of shot quality. The lower the number displayed, the more chance there is of the target defeating the missile.

Huh… nothing of the F/A-18C stuff they were hyping earlier this week.

Still, happy to see the Viggen get some lovin’ and I hope the “2nd mission” fix works for my 1070 as well.
