DCS 2.5.X Screenshots (2018)

Autopilot is broken again?

was it ever fixed?!

Well it worked for me… I can’t remeber which branch it was though.

2.5.1 I think was when it was implemented. Been there a while.

You can’t click the switch, but you can map it to make it work IIRC.

The autopilot works just fine for attitude and altitude hold.

I use the AP as my trim religiously in the Harrier.

This game keeps impressing me.

Trolling along downtown.

Trying go go vertical next to that tower … I failed but it was amazing to see the rain and weather make this place look alive.

Above the clouds, looking back over my wing.

Beautiful skin against the white and blue sky.

Awesome!

This is probably gonna be my new desktop background at work

Seriously. We get to fly this as a hobby. It can get expensive but … wow.

@near_blind and @klarsnow doing some formation RTB.

Seeing it with the rain streaking by is fantastic!

Nop not yet! Only really just getting back into it, figuring out how to drop weapons and stuff like that. It’s a good interface honestly, not much hunting for stuff!

Messing around with Motion Blur and the new explosions.

That would be cool, although I don’t remember many flight sims that had civilian traffic. The first one that I remember has modelled that aspect was probably F-14 Fleet Defender where there were some airliners flying around in some missions. In Oceana training theatre you could even came across Wild Bill’s T-28 - Bill Stealey own that plane in real life: » MicroProse’s Simulation-Industrial Complex (or, The Ballad of Sid and Wild Bill) The Digital Antiquarian

There were some civilian traffic in GraphSim’s F/A-18 Hornet 3.0. and IIRC in Digital Image Design’s EF2000 and F-22 ADF/TAW.

THere were maybe one or more missions where there was airliner present in USNF/ATF series.

Surprisingly there are none in Falcon 4.0.

Were there any other sims that modelled civilian air traffic?

Typically, civilian air traffic stays well away from conflict zones, with a few notable exceptions of course.

I began @Baltic_Dragon’s The Georgian War campaign tonight, knocking out mission 1. Will not give away any spoilers.

First leg was out to relieve a flight of Turkish F-16 doing AWACS escort duty. We flew along for a while to check out their aircraft and then bid them farewell.

Another flight of Eagles saddled up and relieved us to push for the second part of our mission, which was to fly in formation with some Su-25’s over separatists engaged with Georgian troops. A show of force, if you will.

RTB. E3 and Eagles pass overhead.

You’ll have to fly the campaign to see what happens next  Let’s just say that we burned enough fuel to divert to Katusai.
