A C17 would be coolā¦ but with the size of the maps we have, the C130 and CH47 should be more than adequate for most needs.

Thereās a mod for Arma 3 that has a C-17, and if DCS maps are too smsll for some reason, then A3 is waaaaay too small for heavy-lifters. One reason I donāt fly fixed-wing too much. It sucks and maps are just not suited for air warfare. But they do exist and I mainly prefer helicopters myself. But maybe the Kola map? I mean for the joy of it, but agreed though, I donāt see s need for intercontinental transport planes.
Oh and if anyone needs some C-130 stories to pique your interest on the Herky bird:

Snake Man created quite a few low-res satellite map only maps for arma 3. They were made for flying at least a few dozen km in each direction. But any map larger than 200km was doomed to fail due to the terrain tech used in arma 3. I remember someone testing the Nimitz and F-18 on a map covering the Iberian part of Europe - after a few dozen km all kind of weird stuff happens, as the computational foundation of the engine is not sound for these dimensionsā¦

I have Svalbard, which is 500km x 500km and so far no issues yet, though I mainly play on Altis and Clafghan when I record my missions. Anyway I just donāt think they really thought ahead for us sim flyers though, but I can understand their focus on infantry combat and the like.

Iām not baiting, just donāt see the need for that much transport if all you do is going to fly from point A to B. I mean thatās what MSFS2024 is for. Then again I just fly around now, not do anything remotely combat related other than trying to get HARMs to hit a target.

No worries, when I play Arma 3 I like transport helicopters mainly, usually a Black Hawk style helicopter. I just enjoy being a bus driver for that.

Iāve been banging on for years about my personal dream of being able to let everyone else do the dogfighting and the bombing. Whilst i fly racetracks in a Kc10 and refuel everyone or at 500ft in a herc delivering humvees to a Farp somewhere remote.
Thatā¦its me. And its wonāt sell well

I donāt know,We see so many Long Haulers selling very well in MSFS 2024ā¦We also have some bigger maps with South Atlantic,Kola,ā¦this could bring a whole new niche to DCS?
