DCS 2.X Video Thread

Question: Is a navigraph sub worth it if all you fly is DCS?

Probably not.

Special One Life Event on the Project Overlord WWII Server.

Reenactment of the first Ramrod raid going after V1 launch sites in France. I am flight lead of a Mossie flight call sign “Dumbell”. Ingress went almost perfectly and without a hitch but unfortunately we completely messed up after the attack and we were shot down West of Dieppe.

Video is time stamped just before we hit our IP

Nice. We used to hold one life events in OG IL-2 with up to 40 people. Still some of the best flight sim experiences I had.

Not much you could do once you were spotted. You gave everything

Project Overlord used to do a lot more of them but they are a lot of work to organize and DCS has had a lot of problems with multiplayer performance lately. Probably the best event I have taken part in was a recreation of a bombing raid on Paris where the Allies bombed Axis airfields in the vicinity of Paris.

We were 40 Antons tasked to intercept the Bombers (112 B-17’s) that were escorted by 40 Spitfires. Currently you can only dream of having a smooth experience with 80 players and 112 AI aircraft.

Nice! How are you liking it? Seemed like a pretty deep simulation.

The C-130 is amazing. The only major system missing on the -30 is SAR in the CNI-MU. Almost every other system is simulated and working apart from a few bugs, a lot of which should be fixed with the next update.

It is the most complete DCS release I have ever seen - by a long shot - and hauling cargo is surprisingly fun in a tactical environment. It really shines in multicrew as there are procedures you simply cannot reliably perform on your own. For example I did a low level CARP delivery where you ingress at very low altitude at pretty high speed and then climb up to your drop altitude while slowing down, deploying flaps and opening the ramp. In a scenario like this all of that happens so fast that it is not feasible flying on your own but it is an absolute blast with a buddy by your side.

But even for normal operations like take off or landing, having a co-pilot (or being the co-pilot for that matter), is amazing. If you know have a buddy to fly with this module is amazing. I know you fly sinngleplayer but if you treat it as a two player coop game then this module suddenly becomes even better than flying on your own - which is also fun but limiting at times.

I’ve only flown it alone from Point A to Point B and doing airdrops. I enjoy it for relaxing and atmosphere, getting to see the scenery.

I just finished a benchmare run, for DLSS 4.5 (see that thread), and that one looks pretty darn good.

Ha ha ha, this is fracken’ hilarious, even if she can’t pronounce pitot.

Man, I was tempted to dim the lights, put some sandalwood and lavender oil in my diffuser, and light some candles after listening to her voice.

Can’t help it…

There I was, 1984-ish, in some beach-side dive bar, playing a crude video game with modern ‘sound’ effects (music?). Now I can play a modern video game with crude sound effects. Livin the dream baby!
