Matt said “nosewheel steering off” - Falcon 4 fans all over the world sung in unison “how do we turn it on???”

You probably have to be older than 35 or so to get that joke.

I keep telling myself I’m going to wait till the F-16 is feature complete and/or out of early access before I buy

Must resist

Don’t forget “my bombs didn’t left the racks when I pickled, what gives?”

twas back when Master Arm was defaulted as off at the start of the mission (same as NWS being off) during early Falcon 4 modding times

Same here.
Originally I wanted to wait until at least all systems including ground radar are there, but

Man it becomes hard, I really like that plane.

I keep going back and forth concerning the ‘plastic bug’ - I run DCS via the Steam download- and rumor has it the next SteamSale is set to hit in October. Wait or get - for some strange reason the song from The Clash (should I Stay or should I go) keeps running around my head! Lol :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Usually modules released to close to a sale will not be discounted.
Usually.

Well thanks to Komemiute - 63.00 dollars taking the active for immediate departure -

Haha he didn’t need all that much of a nudge, did he?

Anyway, even at 63 bucks it’s well worth it. There’s so much to the plastic bug. Even air to air is fun in it. Put two sidewinders and two slammers on it and it becomes one mean little BFM SoB.

Still, I can’t wait to ride the viper’s big ol’ engine. Accelerate like a stuck pig and 9G for days :sunglasses:

The F/A-18C will have you groveling at 120knots at every time you give it a chance to do so. While all that nose pointing authority is fun, it also saps your smash like a motherlover. Getting fast again takes some doing, even when slick and unloaded.

I flew the MiG-29 for a bit today. It also can point its nose all over the sky, making the entire planform one big fat airbrake, but it has enough kick to accelerate out of it like a startled cat. Felt way safer in that letting it get slow a bit.

In fact, the Fulcrum is so far the only machine I managed to down all opponents with in my exercise flight. let’s overlook the fact that the machine was on flames after the re-arming landing due to a tailstrike. Landing the Mig is not easy.

Nude me not! Lol
Nope not too much - I’ve been looking for an excuse and lo and behold I’ve discovered an entire forum of reasons! My wife will surely understand!

Does anyone else get a 2D cockpit vibe from the Viper?

Don’t get me wrong, it looks fantastic. But the lack of canopy frame when zoomed closer to the HUD reminds me of 2D panels in FSX!

Zooming out, the extra downward view gives me the vibe of floating in space. With the bug you get a bit of a view of the LERX before turning far enough to see the wing.

This will be a great asset to CAS, with much less if any bank required in certain orbits and your VR guys are going to have a field day. I know that has been discussed before, but I feel a have to acknowledge it myself.

Man I was thinking, why is that velocity vector always so far up
Until I had this “aaaaaaaahhh” moment.

Yes! Videos make it seem really flat and artificial. This is one where VR will make an even larger difference.

I’m usually not super-impressed by the look of the preview videos
but once I get in it (particularly in VR)
my jaw drops. I haven’t ordered the F-16 yet
but I know I will
I like to pretend like I won’t. It will just be added to the immense list of DCS modules that I don’t even know how to start.

I remember saying six months ago how I was going to learn the M2000
where did the time go?

I held out until the first preview trailer
and then my credit card came out. My dilemma right now is that I have swapped my TM Warthog stick out for the VirPil WarBRD base with the MongoosT50 CM2 grip, which is optimized for a centrally mounted position. The Warthog grip is obviously a better match for the Viper, and I will need to mount it off to the side. Then I have the Honeycomb yoke coming shortly too
so many controller options, with only so much in the way of desk space.

First world problems I guess
 :hushed:
