As a plan for 2018 it does look good!
It will, of course, change. But such is the nature of things…
I do believe that getting 2.5 out the door will free a lot of resources that can be directed to improving only one version of the engine. That will probably get things moving at a faster pace.
2018 will see a lot of cool DCS stuff!

I think my most wanted list is headed by 2.5 with the new Caucuses map. I live in Qatar, so SoH map is something I absolutely drool over.
My most wanted aircraft is the MiG-19. Its a Razbam, so you know it will be good. And its simple so you don’t have to be a Technology Engineer to fly it. Its a must have. The Corsair by Heatblur has been on my mind since this morning (Thanks Troll!). Korean war scenes, YaY!
Phantom II is probably most anticipated DCS aircraft of all time. Then we can have Vietnam and Middle East scenarios. Looking forward to the Phantom. Speaking of witch,
I really hope the A-4 Scooter and A-7 SLUF aircraft make it to the download pages this year. I have watched(youtube) a bunch of stuff on the A-4 in particular. It looks good and I want it NOW. hahaha
Razbam has gone quiet with the Mirage III. Maybe they will surprise us the way Heatblur did with the Corsair.
The Mi-24… Got to have it.
The F-18 looks like I need a degree to fly it. F-14 will be a must have that I never fly.
While the I-16 sounds good, it lacks an opponent in DCS. But knowing me, I will probably buy them all. I’m a sucker for fighters. I still hold out hope someone will do a MiG-17F…
This is a great announcement. I really look forward to next year. What a great job ED has done.

Ah well, i would be rejoicing if it wasn’t for so many items that made it from last year’s list over to this one, some even from several years back.
By now i’m really jaded about these “we will work on feature X in the upcoming year” announcements, since getting the listed features out is more of an oddity than the norm. That is not to say that DCS development is stagnant, just that overly optimistic PR announcements can wear you out.

Sounds good, as usual. I hope they can release at least half of that stuff in 2018.
Although I must say I raised an eyebrow when I read the Hormus map is almost finished but they want to work on the mesh. That doesn’t make much sense. I have worked with terrain meshes and textures, if you change the mesh at some point you usually have to redo a LOT of stuff so it fits again.

“improved proximity damage” is interesting and not something I think I have read officially yet. If this means fragmentation effects this could not only mean more effective bombs but also different fusing effects (air-burst, proximity fusing for missiles and AAA).

Razbam would provide great synergies there I think. They want to do helis in the future and Ollie has some experience with them already. Razbam has some good coding going it seems so that would fit nicely I guess.

hopefully this time next year, I can pick up the F-14 and F-18 and SoH map in the winter sale. Really curious about the pricing on these. Cobra hinted that the $60 gift card on their site would be enough to buy the F-14, but I can see that being priced similarly to the harrier at $70. Maybe the pre-sale will be $50 as well.
I’m hoping it’s Belsimtek who’s The New Partner who will take up the coding,They’re a Proven leader in The DCS Module Game.I know they have a LOT on their plate with The Hind and Phantom but I really enjoy the products they put out. The Mig-15 will be my preferred mount while buzzing the new 2.5 countryside! Hehe!! HNY2018 All!!
