Two weeks ago, we headed out to Western NC for another escape to the mountains. This time we found a really nice, cozy condo with a killer view of Toxaway Falls.
Orange Julius got us there safely again…
Hawt!
The worst view ever…
Deck heater in action…allowing us to chill on the deck and take it all in…
Best part of these mini vacations - disconnecting a bit and playing a savage game of Aggravation. Tears usually are shed.
Pancakes and a view…by the way, I recommend Kodiak Cakes…awesome, lots of protein, and hearty taste - good fuel for hiking!
The next morning, hitting the trail at Gorges State Park…
These signs are actually legit. Two people died in the last couple months after being swept over the waterfalls in the area…
After a bit of hiking, the awesome Rainbow Falls…you can spot the rainbow in the second picture. The wind whips upslope here, taking mist with it…
My wife and I have a special connection with this place. We were here eighteen years ago or so before it was even a state park. The boys wouldn’t even believe we swam in that waterfall nearly two decades ago…
Turtleback Falls - a summertime sliding rock…
Stopping for a bit of lunch - our traditional sandwiches and pasta salad…
Heading back down the trail…
A nice day hike. We arrived back at the condo to witness the guys walking all around Toxaway Falls. We were pretty sure we’d see someone fall off it…but they got smart and decided to back off trying to walk down it…
Enjoying watching birds come to the feeder…
Some drone shots from above the falls…
Some footage of Toxaway Falls taken with our Mavic drone…
