► VPC MongoosT-50 Electronics

The components used in the VPC MongoosT-50 control systems are of a proprietary design courtesy of the VirPil Controls design team.

The system consists of:
• VPC-Controller
• VPC 360° 16-bit Digital Sensors (iGMR-Based Angular Sensor)

At the heart of the control system you will find our VPC-Controller. This is based around a modern RISC AVR processor provided by Atmel. Capable of 16 million instructions per second. Data updates for axes positions and button presses are processed at 500 times per second.

Supporting up to 8 axes and 128 buttons, the VPC MongoosT-50 electronics will be able to support any future VPC grips.

The controller is compatible with both Windows and MacOS PCs, connecting via USB 2.0. The controller is automatically recognized without requiring any prior driver or software installations.

The VPC sensors use contactless iGMR (magnetic field) technology, based on the latest ADC chips offering 16-bit precision. The sensor chip controls the DSP processor at a speed of 8 million instructions per second and connects to the controller via a 4wire proprietary comms protocol. The resulting accuracy is a huge 32,000 readings per 360 degrees in 1 count steps (0.01° / count). The resulting accuracy across the joystick’s travel means movements as small as 0.006° are detected!

Our VPC-Config software meets the needs of every player, transforming the VPCockpit controls into a fully configurable professional flight tool. More information on this in our next announcement!

Stay tuned for further announcements at the VIRPIL.COM website.

► VPC MongoosT-50 Base & Flightstick Shipping Update

In our efforts to remain as honest and transparent as possible with our customers, the VPC Team unfortunately reports the postponement of the previously announced delivery dates for pre-orders including the VPC MongoosT-50 Base and VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick.

Initially it was planned for all pre-orders before 5th May to be shipped at the end of May, and all pre-orders after 5th May will begin shipping 10th June.
However, the production of the mechanics have taken longer than initially planned. We were presented the choice to maintain our initial timing, or provide superior quality. We ultimately chose the latter.
We will confirm the new pre-order shipping dates in 2-3 days.

We deeply apologise for this delay, henceforth we will be much more restrained with our announced timings to ensure this doesn’t happen again. As compensation for the long wait, the VPC Team is preparing a gift for every pre-order customer.

Thankyou all for your patience and continued support!

► VPC Pre-Orders Shipping Update

In the last week, the VPC Team had met together at the VPC HQ in Belarus to discuss the status of the current pre-orders including the VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick & Base production.

As per our previous announcement, there had been a delay on our initial shipping estimate due to some minor improvements being made to the MongoosT-50 gimbal which required some retooling at the production factory. The production factory was then required to fulfil a large state order before moving on to ours. We apologise for this delay and appreciate everyone’s understanding during the wait.

However, we are now pleased to announce that the VPC MongoosT-50 Flightstick and Base orders will begin shipping on July 1st, with orders being dispatched on a first come, first serve basis.

We also have good news for users who have pre-ordered our VPC MongoosT-50 LH Grip and PC MongoosT-50 LH Flightstick. Production has already begun and these orders will also be shipping on July 1st!

July 18-23 2017, the International Aviation and Space Exhibition MAKS 2017 will take place at the Russian Central Test Base airport (Mikhail Gromov Flight Research Institute). About 800 companies from more than 30 countries of the world are going to participate in this event.

In addition to the demonstrations of aircraft and helicopters from the event participants, eight teams are also expected to participate in a series of aerobatic displays. Undoubtedly, the attention of all aviation specialists and media will be riveted to the town of Zhukovsky over these next few days.

Of course, there will be also something interesting to see for virtual pilots as well.

In Pavilion D9 at the Constanta Design Company Stand #14, where their product lineup (software solutions in the field of image generation for next-generation imaging systems) will be shown, all spectators can try to fly at one of the two experimental setups “Aviadarts VR” which are simulators of the Su-27SM2 fighter.

The proprietary software of Constanta Design (landscape, objects of the world, visualization system, aircraft module), virtual reality helmet (VR) and control system consisting of stick, throttles and tri-axial pedals F2 (Su-35) from BRD, which became already classics and well-known by virpils from all over the world.

We are proud to announce, that together with software and devices with such high-profile names, the VPC MongoosT-50 Grip and the VPC MongoosT-50 Throttle (prototype) produced by VirPil Controls are installed in the simulators!

This is a very exciting moment for us: here, at MAKS, the first official take-off of VirPil Controls to the virtual sky will take place. We are sure that you will all feel how much time, effort and love was invested by the team to the project and we truly believe that VPC’s quality products will take a worthy place in your home cockpits.

During the opening hours of the air show (10:00 - 18:00), VirPil Controls team members will work on the stand. Visitors will be able to get acquainted with VPC products, learn about future developments, ask questions and test the devices.
