There is plenty of sexy and smokin’ hot iron out there. Much of it was born and died well within the lifetime of the Chinook. And much most of it played a much smaller roll in promoting the national interest of the possessing country than the Chinook. It may not set the loop on fire, but it is cool as ■■■■!

I can’t wait to crash many a chinook in DCS.
I talked to a former airborne assault dude about the hook. He said the most distinctive memory he has of it is the smell: oil, hydraulic fuel, kerosene exhaust and vomit. A strong note of vomit.
My worst memory of Chinooks (I used to work with them btw - 18sqn RAF) in DCS was trying to shoot the buggers down in my Su-25. Think it was the Revanche campaign. IIRC I didn’t get any of them.
Give it a few months and it’ll be NATO…
It looks so familiar, but somehow … too modern.
I’ve really come to love that guy’s channel. He really does his research and presents it superbly.
But has a video thumbnail of a AJS 37, with the text JA 37…
I can forgive him. It’s an in depth video and it’s well done!
Here’s some low level mountain flying in the north of the NATO prospect.
Oh, and Sweden will join after its application has been milked for its political value.
That was such a sweet looking machine when it was as slick and clean as the designers intended.
Waste not want not…
it’s an interesting story - would be nice to get a Sea King in DCS
That looks awesome!
I need to stop procrastinating painting my Belgian Sea King model so I can do another Sea King in Ukrainian livery
I’ve got the old Airfix kit - I went to a model show a few years back and a shop had a huge pile of them and was selling them off for £1.50 each! I was tempted to grab a few, but sense stepped in and I just got the one - though I did buy a load of other ones that were also going cheap. It’s the AEW2/ASaC 7 version, with the large rotating radome.
I got 5 Gnat models and I want to do each one in a different paint scheme and put them on a 5 aircraft stand, flying in formation. So far I only did the Yellowjacks leader paint.
PS - here it is on the stand - not that good a build, but it’ll do I s’pose. That shelf really needs a good dusting…
I see that and before I think, “cool!”, I think “KIDS!” So weird living a whole life looking at military people as the adults in your circle only to suddenly (and WAY late) realize that you’re older than all of them!
I know the feeling. When I retired I was still working in a mixed civilian / military establishment and remember looking at some of the new soldiers coming through the door and thinking ‘do your parents know that you have run away from home and joined the Army?’
I think that is why Hollywood always uses actors that are far too old in military movies.
