They’re a maleable plastic, so while they can be somewhat formed, they can also break if you fold them too much. Which now that I think of it has happened to me with PE seatbelts as well.
based on one recommendation used this in the past , slows down the drying so the color can spread nicely before it dries out
would definitely experiment with this , cause many very thin layers is exhausting procedure ![]()
maybe thin colors ootb help . like Vallejo Model Air Color are thin enough for airbrushing so can be ok without thining for brush painting also . cause thining before every paint layer is … exhausting ![]()
Flow Improver combined with Air Colors can maybe produce good results without going too thin on the layers . never really tried that on the whole kit surface .
but using Air Colors without thining for brush paintning small parts . works fine .
Can’t speak for brush painting but I use Model Air for all my airbrush work and brush-painting small parts/details. The flow improver is kinda weird because it somehow increases the amount of paint as if it’s being thinned while not changing the viscosity much until you exceed a 1:1 ratio.
Vallejo’s colors can be a bit off as well, so matching by eye is recommended. Right now I’m working on my first German bird and the RLM colors have so much gray in them that the gray-violent and gray-green have zero contrast between them, making the wings look like a single color.
I think I’ve tried something like that before (called flow retarder, maybe?) but did not have much success, still got brush strokes, I just got them more slowly ![]()
I use Vallejo too, I like them but I remember going nuts with their light ghost/even more light ghost/cannot believe it’s even lighter ghost greys once when doing an F-15. The bottles would say different things, have different FS numbers, but when I sprayed them on I could barely tell. Matching by eye seems to be the way to go a lot times.
here Model Air with decent amount of Flow Improver . didnt aim for thin layer at all , more to the contrary . seems like nice even surface . but still small surface area though
plus testing Vallejo Plastic Putty . its defenitely thinner [ whats good imo ] than AMMO Arming Putty
“Nice B-17. Be a shame if…something…happened to it…”
Tamiya A8/R2 in 1/48. A couple minor fit issues around the cowling and my RLM74/75 contrast is sus. Also forgot red trim tabs lol.
In knew a guy who did a lot of 1/72 late war German stuff. Het was from Bavaria and hand painted a tiny little foaming beer stein in place of the tail marking.
That’s genius! Since I don’t (yet) have an obsession with that genre I’m okay with it for personal display and historical accuracy, but most of my WIP pics I post online I censor with the poop emoji.
good looking Fockker
my 72 Fockker A8 from Revel is almost done , final touches needed
Looks great! Such a tough looking plane.
Do you use one of those little light boxes/cubes to take photos?
Yep, I have a folding light box with an LED ring in the top. I still need extra light coming in the front though, and it still comes out slightly dark. Usually taking my photos at 1/100 f11 for wider DoF, then auto white balance in GIMP to lighten it up a bit.
Cool, they come out well!
That 190 is pure Fire!
