They reduced the %ABV. I think it was about 5.5% early 90’s, used to give me a really really bad head. Very similar to Tennets Extra which was stronger than the standard 4%.
I can’t seem to remember it being called wife beater back then. It might have been early 2000’s before I heard of my mates use the phrase.
Interesting they don’t call Leffe wife beater, which is significantly stronger than Stella used to be. That too gives me a really really bad head.
Much like Old Peculiar, which is around 5.6% ABV, which also gives me a really really bad head… you get the picture.
With me and beer, as long as it is made with malt, hops, yeast and water (only), I’m fine regardless of ABV.
It is only the ‘mass produced’ muck e.g. Victoria Bitter, XXXX, Fosters, etc and all the shite they add, such as preservatives, that give me a foul hangover if I over-indulge.
Gosh what a beautiful countryside. I’d love to impose on you to visit sometime. If you put a wrench in my hand I promise you I will destroy whatever it was you were intending to fix…but I’m very good at supervising. I assume that is why there are two cases of Stella…one to sit on…the other to drink from.
I havent had a drop since 2008, but, I was a sucker for a citrus hefeweizen. We have a local spot called “Squatters” that makes the best one I’ve ever had.
I also like Shock Top, which is a Belgian Ale. Really good.
Actually went somewhere in it today. Local car meet at a nice new cafe, there was a porsche and supercar event going on so i thought that they could do with a freedom injection.
Took it on the dual carriageway, first time. Was fine if a little slow…
So we’ve finally done it, had a very hard day at work. But we managed to get loaded up and convoyed over to the show ground, 100 ish vehicles on display, 1 humvee. I’m a little giddy about this.
Got the tent set up in record time, we are all set! First PROPER show!
I’m not gonna lie, when my wife told me she remembered to select 4 wheel drive in the Hilux without being told, she made my day.
I was watching her following me in the hummer and thought to myself that she wasnt even sliding around behind me and it was proper boggy. She honestly made my day when she said “i remembered! I remembered!”
