Victork2 has passed away

I will keep you all updated on arrangements. He was not one for a formal gathering, so I think we are going to try to get his fleet of military vehicles together outside the local pub and ask people to come and raise a glass or six to him.

This is devastating to hear Els, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him once in the flesh and spending a lovely day together, we will all miss him so much around here too. My most sincere condolences as can be shared through the internet.

I am at a loss for words.

Thank you so much for taking the effort to share this with all of us at this difficult time, Els!

Despite not having met offline all that often, he was a dear friend and a big part of my life.

:broken_heart:

I will be there at the memorial, as certain as anything in future tense can be said, and please do let me know if there is anything you need, whenever, whatever. I owe Ace, and that extends to you, Obi and Lara!

I am so hurt. I feel for you, his family. You guys are always so happy, so entertaining us with your banter. He was such a part of us here at Mudspike. And you and him were so cool. May peace soon find you. My deepest condolances. I feel like I got hit in the face. No words.

Mark

Lookit this motherlover. Too rare to live, too weird to die. But he did anyway.

Deepest condolences to you and your family from this tragedy. Ace was one of the folks who made this a special little corner of the internet, and we appreciate you being willing to share him with us for the time we had with him. I can’t imagine I’m the only one with the sentiment, if there’s anything we here at MS can do to assist in these difficult times, please don’t hesitate to ask. Ace was a good friend to all of us, and we’d like to take care of his people as best as we can.

This. Anything. A call to a patient and sympathetic ear, someone to come over and haul some trash or a bundle of cash. We’ll find a way.

Goddammit Ace, this can’t be real. The world is not complete without you in it

Ells, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your husband meant a lot to so many of us here, and it is hard to imagine this place without him in it. He was the kind of person people looked forward to hearing from. He was funny, kind, welcoming, had great taste in music, and was genuinely good to be around. Even though I only knew him through this community, he made me feel like I was one of his friends. Please know you are in my thoughts, and that he will be deeply missed by all of us.

Gutted, just totally gutted.

We never met in real life, but he was a mate. A good one - in every sense of the word.

My heart goes out to you, Obi and Lara. Thank you so much for taking the time to let us know during what must be a time of extreme grief. The courage that took gives me hope that you have the strength to get through this.

This is where I’m at. I can’t/don’t want to believe it. So very very sad. There’s a huge gap in Mudspike and life in general.

Lovely words mate, so much better than I could have said.

I just wanna say I love you all too much and that that is something I should have expressed earlier. Regrets come at the worse possible time.

Oh dear god. I’ve never felt such loss for someone I did not personally knew. This is a great community but he above us all was the human we aspired to be. A dear, loving father and husband; a worker, a mechanic and an artisan. His “ultimate folly” thread highlighted anything but folly. He spoke a language of love and drive. On the surface it was about a humvee. But scratch that surface and it was about a devotion to family and sharing; and country. England shined through car meets and airshows. No offense to any of you, my brothers (and sister’s?), but @Victork2 was, above all of us the man, although many years my junior, I tried to emulate. He helped make me a better mechanic, father and husband. The loss to his friends and family is unfathomable. I am so, so sorry.

I find myself in utter disbelief and actually getting misty-eyed.

@Victork2 was a spectacular fellow to talk to. Man, I really wanted to play GHPC with him once that got co-op. I would have liked to have provided pictures of whatever warbird I get flying and getting his reaction. And watching him share the joy of MicroMachines with his kids? Introducing them to classic games? The world is just a little darker for his absence.

Don’t ask that. At least, don’t frame it like that. Give yourself more credit, after all. I’m sure he’d have absolute confidence in you being able to pick up the pieces here.

You’ve received an emotional blow that floors everyone. He was a solid dude and I feel sorrow for his loss. I can’t imagine what you, his wife, must be going through. Actually, I kind of can? I lost my own partner suddenly, too, but we weren’t together as long as you were. I’d hate to compare.

You’ll find a way because you loved him, he loved you, and you know what he’d want you to do. He’d want you live the best you can, be the best mom you can be, and be as happy as you can be while you do it. It’s what any good father would want and I only see evidence that suggests he was just that; a good dad and a good spouse.

Give yourself more credit and give yourself some slack. Whatever slack you can afford with little ones, at least. You’re stronger than you think, you just need time. Time to weep, to wail, to grieve, and then time to slowly heal. And it’ll take a lot of time to heal, but that’s a good thing. That’s the impact he left. That’s the depth of his love, his passions, his quirks, his interests, even his annoyances, all of the things we come to cherish in a person. We don’t want that pain to leave too soon. It’s what makes us human.

I’d implore you, please, stick around Mudspike and read what he shared and the friends he made. It might provide a measure of comfort to know how well liked he was. When it gets the worst, when you miss him the most, it might bring him back in some little way. You know? Just to read an echo, to get a message in a digital bottle, as it were. An imprint of who he was. You could even say they’re footsteps in the sand. I’m sure you’ll find no shortage of dudes around here who would love to hear you out.

I know I’ll miss him. Please don’t be shy about interacting. If just talking about him, his interests, with us, and other things that helped define him provides any solace, it’s yours.

You have my condolences and I genuinely will hope that Obi, Lara, and yourself find yourselves in a better spot in the not too distant future.

Mudspikers,
I know I’m not terribly active outside of posts, but I’d like to propose that once Gunner, HEAT, PC! receives its co-op mode, we take a look at it and what kind of scale we’re dealing with.

Ace espoused an immense degree of affection for this game, so it seem appropriate to me that we pay our respects to our friend with an event in that, in his name. We could even call it something like “Operation Ace.”
