That was my intention…saw a lot of you and the growling youtubes and now have the bug
Hi @P0pcycle_1952 welcome to the club.
I am sure you will have no shortage of suggestions for what to buy… That is why there are so many other members with the ‘Bad Influencer’ tag
And you can try the modules for free as well… definitely a good choice there.
Welcome to Mudspike!

Welcome @P0pcycle_1952 to Mudspike. Check out some of the excellent community (free) modules in DCS, like the A4-E and take advantage of the two week trials. Enjoy the journey.
Hello. I’m into most sims, but not as active as I used to be. Racing as well, but same deal, as age is taking its toll. Was a big ArmA fan, but that same old excuse these days - I just ain’t up to it so much.
I just returned to BMS now VR is implemented (I’m a HUGE VR fan! - tender years not a requirement!) and hope to do some multiplayer ASAP. I’ve not flown BMS since 4.32 so a bit rusty, but plenty of time.
Started flying “sims” in 1985.
So that’s my life story - glad to be amongst similar-minded humanity.
oh - just so you don’t think I’m completely boring - this is my bike:
and in 3 weeks I’m going to freeze my nuts off, camping on Snowdonia
Welcome home @Johnny
More than a few motorcyclists here I don’t currently have a registered bke and my ‘track day toy’ is currently in more pieces than the photo below:
Welcome, and NICE BIKE!
Looks a lot like an FZ-1 I had back in ‘99 or 2000’. Minus the storage.
Gearsack - an Aussie company make racks and packs to suit just about any bike you could think of. Below is my 1098 in ‘touring’ mode when we were heading to Phillip Island for the MotoGP in about 2012(ish):
I don’t know if there is anything similar available overseas, or if you can get Gearsack luggage - but It is a godsend if you ever want to tour on a sportsbike.
Thanks for the welcomes - I’ve seen some luggage like that Gearsack stuff recently - I’ve been getting soft luggage for my Tiger and did a lot of looking around first. I’m just starting what I hope will be a long-term hobby of bike-camping and have bought all my gear in the last month (I got a small inheritance after my Mum passed away before Christmas). I’m hoping this is how me and Mrs J will spend our future retirement - though I’ve been retired for quite a few years now, Mrs J has a couple left at the salt mine.
Are there any mudspike servers that you guys fly on? Or for racing? Would be interested.
I like the Trumpet! Here’s my last one (before the Tiger 660) - and I’m from Stamford. Best town in the midlands!
That SRAD reminds me of my old RGV250P - have to dig out a photo - probably have to scan it first.
Welcome to the pub Johnny. It sounds like we line up aga and interest wise. I’m bikeless at the moment, that is if you don’t count the 1971 Honda MiniTrail (Monkey) that I found rusting in the back of a Harley stealership. It turned into a 1 year resto. I’ve suffered various two wheeled afflictions over the decades, including Ducatitus, Yamahaitus, Hondaitus and KTMitus. But we had kids very late in the program (I was 54 when our twins were born). So, bikes, shooting, and various other man hobbies suffered.
Currently, multiplayer is rather ad hoc on our discord channel. @schurem runs a DCS fight night, so keep your eyes open for that. We had a league going in Dirt Rally 2 for a bit, but think that we eventually tired of running the same stages. If another rally sim gets released that supports VR, I’d be up for getting that going. I’ve also toyed with the idea of hosting Horny Hornets or Frothy Folkers on the weekend.
Enjoy the Spike.
Ha ha - never heard that expression before and I luv it! Thanks, anyway - I hope you’ll give a shout if you do host a sesh (remember I’m UK time, though, even if I am retired I need my booty sleep). I wish I had time to do a resto - I read about them every month in the Nacelle mag (that’s the members mag for the Triumph Owner’s Club) and it makes me turn green. I don’t have the space, anyway, any more. Not like back when I did this 12,000 mile service on my Beemer 650… also photo of me on it, in my Yoof (okay, my 30’s - young enough )
Fight club is zulu+1 so you’re good for that. Nice ride mate. Mines’ not nearly as beefy, but I bet I can load more groceries on it
That means there isnt any in it lol
My BSA spitfire leaks like a fricking sieve
