Well, Brian May has a PhD in Astrophysics(?), althought that one is h.c. i think.

I am not sure, I think I read somewhere it isnât h.c.
He started working on it in the 70s but paused because of Queen, and then he picked it up and finished it. That would make it a real one, a h.c. doesnât require any work.

Youâre right, he actually submitted his original thesis (with minor review of the progress in the field over the 37 years it lay dormant). Apparently not much research went into the topic since the 70ies.
