I’m looking forward to it. Havent had chance to watch it, that dude in the lead was absolutely phenomenal in generation kill, which in itself is up there with the greatest programs ever made
Yep. I thought the first couple of episodes were a bit slow but it has really picked up.
I have read all the books. Some minor differences, but they basically nailed it. Once I have watched all the episodes I will def give the books a re-read.
I hope it gets more seasons based on the later books. Especially when he meets ART, their interaction is bloody hilarious.
Tentatively looking forward to this. Romulus kinda restored my faith in the Alien franchise.
Keeping with the sci-fi monsters theme. This drops tomorrow on Hulu. By the same director who did Prey (my second favourite Predator movie).
I watched “The Longest Day” again yesterday as a belated DDay celebration. I was immediately reminded why this is a war film classic. More than anything else, what I appreciate the most about this film.is that you get to see the perspective on the events from the American, British, German and French sides.
Just watched “Glory” again for about the 50th time in my life. The final sequence with the assault on Fort Wagner has to be one of the greatest battle sequences ever put on film. Denzel absolutely deserved his Oscar for his performance.
The original movie is a sci-fi classic. The remake on SyFy is forgettable IMHO.
Watched Conclave the other day…
Loved the plot twist at the end!
Ralph Fiennes is one of those actors who is always memorable regardless of how good the movie is.
True.
Cold, damp day here so while the bride is quilting I am snuggled up on the couch with the dog and we are having a mini ‘Vintage Clint’ festival. Three of my favourites in release order: Dirty Harry, High Plains Drifter & The Outlaw Josey Wales.
All solid choices
I watched “Predators” last night. This is the one from 2010 starring Adrien Brody and Lawrence Fishburne. I hadn’t seen the movie for about 8 years and it turned out to be much better than how I remembered it. This is an underrated Predator movie IMHO.
Agree actually- better than the other Predator with the kid wearing the helmet.
While on the topic of Predator movies.
I know animated features aren’t everyone’s cup of tea but overall I thought this was well done with nods to earlier movies and an Easter Egg at the end that ties it to the Directors previous effort.
As I mentioned, I’m concurrently consuming the Apple TV series and dramatized versions of the Murderbot Diaries on Audible. I’m very happy to report that the plot diverges during episode 5 of the TV series, perhaps because the novels are relatively short. It probably makes more sense from a production a fiscal standpoint to embellish and lengthen the plot, rather than introduce the new characters and sets of subsequent novels. The good news is that both are excellent.
Noticed that. Even though they are short episodes I figured that they would need to pad out the story to make 10 of them.
Really enjoying it so far, but I am going to wait until I have finished watching before I go back and re-read the books.
I watched “The Duellists” again today. I think this has to be one of most underrated debut films by any director. In this case Ridley Scott did a masterful film adaptation of the Joseph Conrad novel. I do not expect anyone else ever trying to make their own adaptation of this novel for the simple fact that Ridley’s version can’t be superseded IMHO.
And what a debut it was… Ridley Scott is one of my all time favourite directors.
