Nice write up, although it is I think worth mentioning that X-Plane has been around for a long time. With X-Plane 11 I think it has finally reahed a point where it has moved from being the underdog to being the leader of the pack in many respects. I think the 3rd party devs are starting to see that too.
L-29 package from MLADG for XP11 updated now including L-13 glider as a bonus, cool
Cool! I’m a fan of the DCS L-39 so these look interesting.
ORBX have released Manchester City (EGCB). As well, through FTX Central, you can download three free airports Orstra-Volda (ENOV), Hamar Stafsberg (ENHA), and Oceano County (L52)…
Ørsta/Volda airport Hovden
Really cool that they are making my kind of places…!
Holy cow that looks amazing. With as much detail shown does X-Plane 11 just murder hardware all over the place? I really should get around to downloading the free trial of their software…
If you have a system that runs DCS nicely then XP11 should work just fine. It runs well on my 2 year old machine. Of course, you can bog it down with plugins, UHD mesh and scenery. I have been adding various airports and they seem to have minimal effect on the FPS.
It’s really neat of OrbX to give always these freebies. The quality is excellent as always. I have made a point of purchasing some of their payware airports for XP in the hope that it helps encourage them to develop more going forward.
Downloaded the demo. Now I’m wishing I wouldn’t have because it’s pretty darn cool even though I have ZERO clue what I’m doing.
Welcome to the slippery slope that is X-Plane ;).
FLYJSIM 723 and 727 on sale on xp.store right now
Haven’t tried it, and I’m not checked out in the Q4, but I hear good things about it.
Q400 is good but lightly modeled. It got a patch for xp11 from what I remember to make it work, but it could really benefit from a re release. Unfortunately jack keeps doing his Boeings instead.
Took me a while to get TIR working along with my triple screen setup, but it seems pretty good now. Guess I just need to wait on a sale before I pick the actual title up.
I like the Q400, but it is very lightly modeled. And it does not have a custom FMC, and the systems are very lightly modeled. But for $20, it is a nice Q400 “experience”. I enjoy it because it is really nice for getting into some smaller regional airports and it is also a stand in for a sorely needed Dash 8 100/200 that X-Plane lacks.
Someone in the last few days released some updated cockpit textures for it that I’ve installed, but haven’t tried out yet…
Yeah…but those Boeings are awesome! I’m in love with that 727. I do wish he’d do a Dash 8-100 or 200 though. That would be great.
