They have a bit of a ‘cult’ following downunder and I have actually seen one on the road here. But most Australians confuse them with the Goggomobil… due to a very popular car insurance ad from the early 2000s.
For bonus points I have also watched the movie ‘Go Trabi Go’

Up in the north it was more Ladas than Trabis, but yes - we know them down under

Ladas were infamous here in West Germany for use in the woods by the hunters and foresters. Very sturdy vehicles!
