My first car was a 1982 Mazda 323… Good thing the industry as a whole, and Mazda in particular, have upped their design game since then. It was a tank though.

While it is slightly smaller than the busit is but a mite longer, 30cm or so, for Dutch car standards its freaking huge. All pickup trucks are. They are known as asobakken (aso is short for asociaal; antisocial, and bak means box.) Of course a true asobak is not only big, but is also black and spotless. Mine won’t remain spotless for long 
Four doors, but due to the Dutch rules for company vehicles, the back bench is not mounted and doing so would constitute an economic crime.
But that rule is going by the wayside, and in january I’ll be bolting the backseats back in and the thing becomes the family car as well.
I love driving it, it is me in car form; big and heavy, strong, calm.
There are some things I want to change/fix however. I want to upgrade the avionics so it has car play. Default thing has only bluetooth, which is fine, but no navigation. And to have this big beautiful screen and not do nav on it.. sucks.
Another problem is that the socket for the electric connections to the trailer seems to be AWOL. Don’t know what’s up with that. Ace would probably explain to me how to bolt one on in an hour or so. It was previously owned by Rijkswaterstaat, the Dutch government agency responsible for infrastructure upkeep, so it probably mostly was used to do highway closures and clearance. There’s some traces here and there of ripped out bits that were bolted on and taken off.
Anyway, it’ll need some love and more cash thrown at it, but it’s going to serve me well over the coming years.

There should be a plug somewhere in the wiring loom either in or near the sides of the truck bed.
It should be relatively easy for an auto electrician to find. All the wiring is really an extension of the lighting wiring loom.
Have you had a play with 4WD and low ratio yet? I’m assuming the diff lock is manual as well and not electronic?

It is electronic, a small button on the lower center console, right next to traction control and hill assist.
Today I towed a dinky little two wheeler trailer with about 800 kilos of used gravel on it into the site of my next job (going to mix me some concrete) The soil was loose sand at places and bus would have thrown up the two finger salute and dug in its front wheels and if I had really insisted do the French thing and burn its clutch. The big toyota not. I turned the selector to 4w lo and it just dragged the poor thing like a sled. Didn’t even raise his voice at it. I love the thing.
Mechanic found the wire stump where they cut off the plug head. Could be a simple one hour job to fix. Could take him all day, we’ll see. He was obviously itching to get his hands on my snazzy new ride.
