I think you’ll find it’s pronounced “graphics” like “jih-raffics” ![]()

I believe the line was, “If that’s the case, I’ll face Jod and walk backwards into hell…”
Everybody needs this. ![]()
Check it when the sim/game is running after a while. Anything getting too hot will show red. Free Download HWiNFO Sofware | Installer & Portable for Windows, DOS
Love it. Totally logical. From now on I am using JFEG ![]()
Me too! Think about everybody we will annoy!!
You are reading my mind… My brother is definitely on the spectrum and it will drive him bonkers ![]()
Naw man, he’ll see the logic of the situation and flex to the right way of saying it.

Over the last month or so I have noticed that my temps are creeping up a bit … so I thought I would give the pc a good de dusting and re-paste the cpu cooler … then Amazon prime day happened ![]()
So now there is a new 2tb ssd, 5 arctic fans and some cables . I had a moment if inspiration and thought I have a 240mm front mounted radiator so I can mount 4 fans on it, in a push pull config
Oupsie!
As usual, the paste arrived two weeks ago and it has been sitting on my desk. I have to gear myself up for a couple weeks in order to actually use a screwdriver.
Had a dumb moment this week but no harm done. I’m reboxing my PC into a smaller case, which rotates the mainboard so that you’re looking straight in at the CPU and the GPU is sitting vertically with the fans alongside one of the walls of the case (filtered air intake). I bought a downdraft cooler to replace the AIO that’s really overkill for my 11600K (the AIO is going to my son’s PC, because his AIO has run out of water. Yes, apparently that’s a thing that happens!).
As an aside, last time I bought a cooler it came with instructions. And last time I used a downdraft cooler it was a big chunk of copper fins, “heat pipes” weren’t a thing yet. I bet a few of you can see where this is going.
Putting the thing together on the bench (with the case lying on its back like everything is one of those old IBM ATs or like a modern mini-PC that sits flat on the desk), I try to find a configuration where the cooler will physically fit around the motherboard heatsinks without making the RAM impossible to use. I find an orientation that looks good, and fit the cooler. Get the PC up and running, start Linpack, instant 100 deg C temps and throttling!
It turns out (and is obvious if you think about how they work), heatpipes don’t work if the highest point in the pipe is above both the hotplate and the fin stack. So that’s the one thing I learned today ![]()
My pc has just come out of surgery ![]()
Cleaned and repasted cpu cooler (definitely needed this)
Added two extra fans on rear side of AIO cooler radiator
Added new 2tb ssd
And general cleaning and dusting
Idle temps have dropped from mid 50’c to mid 40s with room temp of 28’c so pretty good
This is the state of my cpu and coolers thermal paste
When I fitted the AIO cooler i just left the pre-applied thermal paste, now I would totally recommend removing any of the pre applied stuff and adding your own
