Speaking of Paris-Roubaix, this is one of my favorites. US Postal, The Lion of Flanders, and a young Tom Boonen are all part of the drama. I guess that Bruyneel was more interested in grand tours, but why the hell he let Boonen go, I will always wonder. Watching this live I thought, well now that Museeuw is nearing retirement that postal will have a single day specialist. But no, let’s give him to Quick Step and most likely never win another race in Belgium.

Have to say I was only interested in bike racing while Lance was on his streak. Even then it was not until he had won 3 or 4 in a row that it piqued my interest.

I have been trying to get a routine going indoors (have one of them contraptions attached to the back wheel of an older bike I had sitting around). Only 40 minutes every now and then but it feels good (expect for my arse which does not like bike seats 
)

Ha ha. You would be probably disappointed to learn that the purchase was only a basket for her cruiser, which in fact was her Christmas present. She has a nice Trek carbon road bike, but hasn’t ridden it much since having kids. In our neighborhood, the beach cruiser is king. She rides it with the kids a few times a week.
I guess that everyone has been riding more these days.
I just took down my trainer yesterday in an effort to get me outside now that the weather is good. Should get a ride in today. Trying to get a run-ride-rest legs-repeat schedule going.

Got my mid-80s mom back on a bike yesterday for the first time in about 50 years She was a little shaky on the start but had fun.

Will try again today. One of my 7 year old daughters joined us. It boggles the mind to think that there is 78 years between grandmother and granddaughter. But that didn’t stop the three of us from having fun making two wheels go around. I was trying to get a photo of the two of them together, but the moment didn’t materialize.

So finally wrapped up the final stage of Paris-Nice (shortened by one stage for Coronavirus)…
Definitely one of the most interesting pro cycling events I’ve watched given the circumstances. It would be really cool to see a documentary following the event staff and teams to see how their feeling changed as the severity of the Coronavirus outbreak really started to take hold during the race.
It sounded like many of the teams and riders were completely over the event and thought it was inappropriate to continue (obviously since some teams and riders withdrew early). The stages were fun to watch though…some tricky roads on that route with the peloton running out of road in some of the narrower parts. I love when tricky crosswinds crop up and we get unexpected splits…it is always interesting to see the team reactions when riders get caught out.
Congrats to Max Schachmann on holding on - seems like a genuinely nice guy. I was surprised more top contenders didn’t go from the gun on Stage 7. I mean, given the situation…knowing that this would be the last race for a while, you’d have thought there might have been more of an “all in” attitude. Of course, I say that from the comfort of my chair…the whole peloton might have been going 100% and there just weren’t any opportunities.
Sure was weird hearing only one commentator (was that Rob Hatch?) and no Sean Kelly giving the good cop/bad cop routine. He sole commentator did a great job though.
Looks like they ran Paris-Roubaix on 4/20 to my surprise…so I’m going to watch that next.

What is this? 1850? How can we not know that one of the biggest annual sporting events in the world happened a month ago!? (Oh look! A sail on the horizon. Maybe more news from Europe!") Not poking you @BeachAV8R. This is happening to me daily. It’s just weird that information is both free and suppressed during COVID.

Haha…you should read the book “In a Sunburned Country” by Bill Bryson sometime. His hilarious observations on how nobody knows what is going on in Australia is awesome.

One or two of you might have been aware of the Le Mans 24 Hours Virtual, where esports teams composed of both professional real world and professional sim drivers competed online. With a reported audience over the 24 hours of over 14 million viewers, both online and via television sports networks like ESPN, it was a huge success and an credit to the World Endurance Championship sanctioning organization. The fact that real world WEC teams, such as Porsche and Ferrari, thought enough to organize and support the esports teams with real drivers and engineers, is a clear indication that manufacturers and racing teams are taking virtual events seriously.
Now comes the TDF Virtual on Zwift. How much support and sanctioning of L’Etape du Tour de France is unclear. But with 2 stages completed, it sure has been fun to watch. So much so, that I’ve ordered a speed, cadence, and HRM units to connect my ancient Kirk Kinetic fluid trainer to Zwift (due Friday). Anyone else here on Zwift? Own a smart trainer? Team Mudspike? 
FYI, they have the women’s and men’s races on the same replay. So if you are not seeing the one that you want to watch, fast forward to the second half of the replay video.

My wife uses Zwift for her triathlon training… she seems to like it.

That’s pretty cool! Zwift seems like a much more interactive solution than watching videos like I do through Sufferfest. But I am already invested in that so I will probably stick with it.
