The sticky bottle. And frequent visits to the medical car for the freezy spray…

Unless your Nibali at the Vuelta and you hang on the car for a long time… There are cameras everyone Vincenzo!

Vincenzo is Jason Bourne…

On the other hand you can see sprinter types doing exactly that on some the mountain stages of the tour just to stay within the time limit. Some of the mountain stages in the last years have been insane.

So the real question is “Did either of you lose or even possibly gain some weight because of all that great food during your ride?”

Don’t answer @BeachAV8R!!!

I lost about 5 pounds on the ride. So the good food didn’t offset my losses…yay!

Every stop on Jekyll Island features either a beer or margarita. I’m ready for Le Tour…

Interesting…a train derailed at Harpers Ferry today. Thankfully it was between 2-3AM, so there was nobody on the bridge footpath or the nearby lookout. We were just there last month…pushed our bikes across that pedestrian footbridge adjacent to the rails to get into town and back to the C&O Trail the following day…

Something you don’t see every day while riding a bike.

South Island?

My wife used to ride a couple of days a week with me on group rides, as well as done 50-100 klm days on trips to France. But since our kids came along, her Trek road bike has been collecting dust. Putting this under the tree Christmas eve. We’ve got some really nice bike and running trails in our community. Hoping to do some laid back exploring with her.

Found this on UT YouTube.

@BeachAV8R, I think you mentioned you had been by this way a bit before it happened.

It is a bit long but hopefully has some shots of the areas you traveled through.

That’s a great video…lots of good footage and yes, that was the exact bridge we walked our bicycles across in the evening and the following morning. What a project getting all of that wreckage sorted out.

How was your ride today @chipwich? I need to get back on my bike(s)…

Thanks for asking. We got slammed this morning with my IT job getting remote access setup for our clients, so I had to work for a couple of hours before heading to the brewery. Going out this afternoon as soon as my wife gets home. Can’t wait. Nice temp out there right now.

It’s still too cold in my AO but I’m trying to prep a bit more with the treadmill, going for runs longer. Had to slow down the treadmill for a while because I messed up my calf and fell a couple months back, but the warming conditions have helped make it a bit easier. But another cold spell again this week, so it’ll be longer still before I can get back out on the bike.

For those of us in the north the days of being stuck indoors are almost over. But over the winter I believe I have become a stronger rider with Sufferfest.

It’s $15 a month. The videos are focused on technique, sprinting, climbing, racing and endurance. The newer ones are very well produced. Some include narrated rides with current protour cyclists. Others are just dashcam video from handlebars and race support cars. All have a certain level of great music and self-deprecating humor.
