DCS 2.5 Update Thread (2018)

Just a heads up, I dont think saving the files to try to restore the keybinds works either, but YMMV. I’ll just rebind.

Control configs are now in your saved games DCS folders - not the install folders. (something like below)

C:\Users\yourname\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config

This work-around worked for me and saved me from having to redo any:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3570603&postcount=91

This only works if you haven’t rebinded anything yet in the F/A 18C. You go to:

X:\Users\grumpyfrog\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet\joystick\Your Stick etc .diff.lua

and

X:\Users\grumpyfrog\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet\joystick\Your Throttle etc .diff.lua

and do a search and replace in Notepad+ (or something) changing all instances of ‘cd38’ to ‘cd13’ (there are about 14 or so of them at least). Essentially the ‘device_id’ changed in a breaky way, but it’s easy to fix up.

Man I wen’t looking tonight with hope, but found no files that match that. I hope there is a hot fix soon.

Not to keep beating the drum, but don’t over complicate it.

When I updated it only removed the control mappings for the HOTAS commands and the TDC axis. Rudder/Pitch/Roll were all untouched, as were my DDI mappings. It took me a grand total of three minutes to undo “damage” (I timed myself, @Fridge was there as a witness )

I’ve got weird Saitek stuff, so for me it was worth the 10 seconds to search/replace on the files.

@Andrew116 - you didn’t have any files in your 'Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Config\Input\FA-18C_hornet\joystick' folder? - I just used ‘Your Stick’ as an example - in reality they are called (for me, it will be different for you) Saitek_Stick_ASD1231241241241.diff.lua or something…

If the “damage” caused by this keybinds issue is to allow future magnificence of f-111 bind-ables…then

DCS 2.5.2.19682 Update 7 Hotfix

Updater ver. 2.9.4.76: ‘settings’ option is available in command line

DCS World
Fixed crash when the ship with the task Attack group destroys the target
Error in radiomessages for USSR country fixed
Target attributes added to ‘Search and engage’ and ‘Search and engage in zone’ tasks

DCS NS430
NS430 Navigation System added in Flat mode to all DCS aircraft (excluding A-10C, F/A-18C and Ka-50)
NS430 Navigation System integrated into L-39 3D cockpit

Some old F-18 radar issues seem to have reappeared with the update prior to this one, so maybe that got addressed as well. Also, apparently the NS430 was activated for the I-16, which i didnt know they were making.

This was all that was in my joystick file…

This one flew under the radar for many people.
If you search the ED forums for the user ‘Plexus’ you can find a few things though. Last time I checked the project seemed to be pretty far already.
This is the website of the team (also on Facebook somewhere I think)
http://octopus-gr.com/

I think it is mainly discussed in the russian side of the forums, strange. I found a post started back in 2014 in the DCS Mods section, but the main thread seems to be kept on the Red side of the website. WW2 doesn’t interest me in DCS, but the more the merrier.

It’s fun to toy around with WW2 planes vs modern on occasion. Just so as long as the Ishak isn’t made of delta wood like it was in IL2 1.0 and the ShKAS aren’t laser beams.

If that’s the right file (I can’t be 100% sure) then that thinks that’s the only differences you’ve made to the default bindings. It only stores what you change, i.e. the ‘difference’ diff bit.

The big number ‘d3003pnilu3003cd38vd1vpnilvu0’ would get changed with that find/replace (the cd38 bit in the middle) which then make your changes work with your device again.

Given that they are quite small, it looks worth just doing it in game I think. My diff.lua went on for pages, because I had removed a bunch of things and it records that.

The I-16 is fun enough in Il-2 BoX, but I don’t know that I’d ever want to fly a full campaign with it.

Curious to see if the recently established update cycle holds up next week. Probably going to be another beta update before rolling it on over to the “stable” version. Unless it’s a language barrier issue, it appears the MiG 21 and Gazelle are disabled with this patch.

Cleaned that up a little bit.

It does seem like you won’t be able to fly the 21 and 342 with this one. That leads me to believe it won’t go to the stable branch as is.
