DCS 2.5 Update Thread (2018)

Yeah - I’m pretty excited about the A320. I have the JAR one, haven’t flown it much at all though…but that FF one looks like one I could sit down with and really enjoy the meat of it.

Already flown a short hop in a Harrier. The sim runs quite well. On par with the 1.5 I have to say. I will share a video - nothing fancy just a quick flight from Tarawa, taking out some trucks with Mavericks and MK-20s and attempting landing back at the boat, with a huge emphasis on attempting - I had a long break from DCS :face_with_head_bandage:

Will post the link when 9GB video finishes upload to YT.

And with that, I have a single install of DCS. Amazing.

I’m to that point where the Cancel button calls to me every time there is a slowdown. I’m a grizzled enough DCSer to know that path only leads to disappointment. This is also the point where I convince myself there is a massive conspiracy at my ISP to throttle big downloads.

Must. Be. Patient.

Not sure how I’m going to download this?.. I can’t get any updaters to start when launching either 1.5 or 2.2, tried the Skatezilla updater tool and can’t get it to see my installed versions… 2.5 isn’t on the DCS download page so how can I update?

Take a look at this page: GUIDE / INFO : DCS Updater Usage, Version Numbers, Module IDs - General Tutorials - ED Forums

If you’ve downloaded the latest Skate’s Updater tool, choose the 1.5.8 open beta path in the lower half of the app window. Enter the path or browse to your 1.5.8 install. Close the utility, and when you open it again, it should have a green dot next to it showing the version. Click update, so that it checks to make sure that you have the latest version. If you do, it should ask you if you want to update to 2.5.x.

Mace I went into my dcs folder and found the update application file. Worked like a charm

Not sure this will help you, I had to do this as I declined to update when I first launched this afternoon.

OR what chipwich said lol

I’ve tried that and it found the 1.5 install and said it was up to date. Wouldn’t find the 2.2 alpha install though which I presume it needs to update?

“A watched progress bar never completes”

You are updating 1.5 Open Beta, not 2.2.

If you only have 1.5 stable read this -

Ha! Same here. Stay strong, Bunyap!

I’m doing that but no, just red dots. I’m pointing it to the \bin folders which is correct?

Use this path entry point…

Capture

Try the one above that.

No, just the main install folder. The utility does the rest. Also, you have to close and open the utility after you enter the path before the button turns green.

Or check this link on how to run the command manually: GUIDE / INFO : DCS Updater Usage, Version Numbers, Module IDs - General Tutorials - ED Forums

Ok lol I seem to have misunderstood as I believe I need to have the 1.5 beta? Which I don’t have… So I need to download that first?

So I did an initial circuit at Kobuleti and I noticed something was not quite right. Jumped into settings and realized my trees were set low, around 20% , so I immediately adjusted to 100% My terrain seemed kinda bright and washed out. I realized my settings were one HDR. Did a little tweaking but still didn’t feel right. So, I changed to deferred shading and found mecca. Unfortunately, the anomaly in my F-15’s HUD is back. It’s a bright green dot in the center of the HUD. It’s not a game changer but noticible.

The map is beautiful with deferred shading on. That freaking dot, tho…

I flew over a hill with a city just beyond and I could “feel” the elevation change. It was quite natural. Did some low level over some trees and realized I held my breath for a moment…

I’m going back in with either the A-10 or Harrier. I know I’m all over the place, but have to say I like it so far.
