Looks like it made a log but no crash file.
Have you tried running a repair? I havent heard of anyone else still seeing the crash.
Iâll try a test today. Flew yesterday but didnât get to any strike targets.
Iâll try it, though I wonât be able to retry for a little bit.
JDAM Report
| # | Weapon | Mode | Result | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | GBU38 | PP, No Qty Setting | Miss | Pilot Error, Late Release in Min Circle |
| 2 | GBU38 | PP, No Qty Setting | Direct Hit | â |
| 3 | GBU31V3B | PP, Qty = Pylon | UXO | Pilot Error, Forgot Fuzing |
| 4 | GBU31 | TOO, Qty = Pylon | Hit | â |
| 5-8 | GBU38s | PP, Qty = Pylon | Mixed | **See Below |
When the QTY setting does not match the pylon setting the weapons will not release. You must re-adjust the QTY setting OR turn it off to continue. Some of this run missed as I hit MIN range while fiddling with it.
No crashes.
@NineLine - can you get an explanation of what that QTY option is designed to do? From Wagâs videos it seemed like it is supposed to âassignâ a weapon to a PP point, but it doesnât appear to do that. Itâs currently like a sort of lock-out saying âOnly let me release these pylonsâ.
I have also noted AIM-7MHâs LOFT regardless of the setting being set to LOFT or NORM.
Here is a link to my mission track file (Hosted on OneDrive):

Regardless, scratch one MiG-29 courtesy of Canada.
I repaired tonight, and tried two flights, the first was an air start with 1 GBU-31 and it did come off the rail and track. The second flight was a hot carrier launch with 3 GBU-31âs and I still got a crash to desktop. No crash log though, just a normal log.
Can you add more details? I can try to replicate the hot start carrier launch, but thereâs other variables. Firstly - what is your DCS version number on the main menu? The patch with fix is 2.5.4-30038. If you still have 2.5.4-29585 you need to update for the fix, or if you did update it didnât complete so try it again.
- Was the JDAM alignment completed? Timer will be 7:30 or less, status RDY.
- Release mode set to MAN (default atm)?
- EFUZ set to INST?
- PP or TOO?
- If PP, did you set precision coordinates or just basic Long/Lat?
- Did you set the QTY setting? If yes, what did you set it to & what pylon was active in stores? (They can be different)
- Where you within the max launch zone and outside the min launch zone?
- Launch speed, altitude, pitch up or down?
Yes, I know this seems like a pointless checklist but we need to narrow it down.

DCS World Open Beta Update
This week we updated the DCS World Open Beta with special attention to the Hornet. The Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) now has improvements to the flight model/autopilot. With this enhancement, we can later add programming of terminal attack parameters like heading, impact angle, and velocity. We have also tuned its Launch Acceptable Region (LAR) logic, glide range, and corrected a crash bug related to quantity settings. The team is now hard at work on implementing the AGM-154 Joint Stand-Off Weapon (JSOW) and Multi-Sensor Integration (MSI) for Latent Track While Scan (LTWS) mode for an upcoming update.
You can read the complete Open Beta changelog here.
To better support JDAM coordinate targeting in Pre-Planned mode, we have plan to later add the ability to display coordinates on the Mission Editor map and the F10 View map Degrees/Minutes/Seconds/Decimal values. Cycle through coordinate display option available by press [Left Alt + Y] or you can change it in the options menu. Once you enter Degrees/Minutes/Seconds, press ENT on the UFC to then enter the two-digit decimal value and then press ENT again on the UFC.
SA-5 âGammonâ SAM Coming to DCS World
To further include a comprehensive set of Soviet/Russian air defence systems, we will be adding the SA-5 Gammon (S-200) Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) system. The SA-5 is a very long-range SAM that was designed in the 1960s to primary counter long-range bombers. Each missile has four, large rocket boosters attached to the central core rocket. The SA-5 is often compared to the Space Shuttle at launch. Under optimal conditions, the SA-5 can engage targets out to 300 km and 40,000 meters in altitude. Maximum speed is approximately Mach 4.
In the nose of the missile is a semi-active radar homing seeker that homes in on radar guidance, in combination with mid-course correction, from the âSquare Pairâ engagement radar.
The missile is armed with a large 217 kg fragmentation warhead.
The SA-5 is a threat to high-value assets like AWACS and tankers that may stray to close to the battle area. Operated by both Syria and Iran, this SAM system will be a great addition to DCS World.
In parallel to this effort, we are also designing support for Integrated Air Defense System (IADS) networks and more advanced air defence AI to include shared-time searches, counter-SEAD/DEAD tactics, and SAM traps. Together, DCS will provide the most realistic and challenging air defence simulation to operate in.
Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team
Yes I am updated to the latest patch.
- I canât say this for sure but I would think that it was due to flight time to target. (I can try again)
- Release mode MAN
- Fuze set to Inst on the CDT, I forgot to set the fusing on the one that did work.
- PP
- Basic lat/ long on both drops
- QTY set to 1 for all stations, though both drops were off station 2 I believe.
- Within max launch.
- 23k 350 level in balt on both drops
This info is to the best of my knowledge, it was very late last night when I tested it.
Okay, looks like the only variation is the hot start then, as I have done similar launch profiles. All of mine have been from cold starts.
Wags is doing a new video this week, the logic has changed since that video, so it will be updated.
Damage Model Update and Other DCS World News
Damage Model Progress Update
Our new damage model is currently being implemented and tuned to the specifics of each of our internally developed WWII aircraft in DCS World. Each aircraft has unique hydraulics, pneumatic and electrical systems, materials and kinematics. As a result, the predicted damage depends on the type and location of impact will vary substantially. The internal effect such as coolant or oil temperature variation, loss of pressure, loss of control or other effects should, in turn, generate the corresponding predicted the internal and/or external visual effect.
Our AI aircraft will also be tuned appropriately and this work is ongoing. We have also added some great tools for testing the damage model on our internal builds. With these tools, we can track the trajectory of hits, shrapnel and damage suffered. In the attached screenshot, you can see the result of a testing session with a Me-109K-4 vs some Flak fire. In the X-ray log window, you can see how different hits make their way into and in some cases through the aircraft. In one instance, an object enters the left tail and stops in the right tail. While the graphical representation isnât the exact location, on the aircraft you will see damage entering at this location, but not exiting on the other side. In another case, you can see objects entering the wing tip, and exiting the middle of the wing. Again, the damage would show on both sides of the wing, based on objects entering and exiting it. As well, you can see how an object entered one Ammo Box, severed the ammo belts on 2 guns, as well as severing a fuel line before stopping in a second ammo box. If you were to use those guns, you would run out of ammo before the indicators showed you did. You can see by the log data that we track the path of the object, the material and/or items passing through it.
I hope this update gives you a better understanding of what we are aiming to achieve with our new damage model. We trust that it will be to your satisfaction.
Update of Russian Ural-375 Trucks
While the weapon systems often get the spotlight, it is also important that support units continue to be updated and improved as DCS World grows and evolves. This is part of an ongoing effort to update all older DCS World units.

See high res screenshots here
Today we bring you three new and updated variants of the venerable Ural-375 truck. The Ural-375 is a workhorse of the Russia military and is a 4.5-ton 6x6 multi-purpose platform from which many variants have been produced since its introduction in 1979. In addition to cargo and crew variants, it has also served as the chassis for the BM-21 rocket launcher, a fuel carrier, and hard and soft tops.
Sincerely,
The Eagle Dynamics Team
âŠummmmm. WellâŠerrr. YES!
I think a DCS analogy is the best way to describe this:
If we were to PAVEWAY a bomb down (yes down) from Flight Level âUpcoming DCS Realityâ to âSatisfactory Damage Modelâ the TTI would be measured in days.
AAR? BDA - Target Deeeeestroyed.
I recently started bit with the Spit and âStang. Looking forward to some more WWII flying as the last I did was CFS3!
(Note: I didnât know of IL2 series until after I flew DCS)
This is so HOT!
If thereâs a universal karma on how many of those trucks Iâve boomed over the years then Iâm in real trouble. ![]()
Those trucks are such fun to set on fire with the 25mm ![]()
