Well the F-5E lighting in-cockpit looks to have been taken care of.
I haven’t gotten to try it at night time, but early morning and all the lights looked relatively and properly subdued compared to before.
While I haven’t spend much time in the F-5E, I did buy it a while ago and only just got to it.
So far it has been a very fun aircraft to fiddle around with and learn. It’s no hotrod by comparison to the newer and bigger jets, plus it is quirky as hell - but it flies pretty good!
It may be, in the long run, my go to (or fallback) platform; old school, with a turbine, guns and manual bombing. Fast enough. Not complicated. Easy on the cpu/gpu too. Plus it is ‘pointy’ in all the right places.
There hasn’t been a stable update in forever, it’s still 2.5.5. No JF-17 either.
With all the 2.5.6 issues, though, I think that was warranted. The beta is a beta and needed attention.
Really? I think it’s just placebo effect. I haven’t clean shader folders for some time now and the sim still runs fine.
But what the heck, I will purge them to see if it runs any better.
I haven’t noticed a performance change when I do it, but occasionally if I forget I come across bizarre graphics artifacting which goes away when I clear them, so I try remember to do it as preventative maintenance.
I was dogfighting an AI 109 with my trusty I16 and the sounds where amazing. The engine of the 109 getting closer and then receding as he goes past. I dont think I have touched my sound levels and must assume the sounds where tweaked in the update. Another cool feature that is not maybe DCS per se but sitting waiting my turn on the supercarrier my jetseat vibrates as the jet on the cat pulls power and gets up to burner
Spent the night there (Acklington). Winter 1976 I think. 3 UK Division was doing a TEWT and finished with a road move from Acklington back to Bulford on SALPLAIN. My main memory is standing on the back of a Ferret in the early hours heating my iced up boots/feet almost to frezing level. Engine decks are great foot warmers. Eventually they let me get a commission and I learnt that bigger engines (Chieftain V) produced more heat and had engine decks that could dry your clothes and even sleep on.
You should try sleeping underneath the JBDs - free vibrating bed.
