I have waves in Marianas, but they have changed. We no longer have the nicely detailed, whispy waves. We now have these big fuzzy things that look quite good from altitude but look like a dead TV channel when up close.

Yep, they’re broken. They should be animated. I bet it will look awesome when they fix it.

These large ones are animated for me. But yeah, the other detailed ones are broke.

Ya know, I’m not a huge eye-candy guy (I have no issues dialing things down for my VR fix; medium/low settings) but…they are slowly converting me.

Everything looks just a tad better; clearer perhaps; clouds nicer; water much nicer (even on Medium I now get a better sense of speed down low).

Haven’t tried the Forrestal yet but with static bodies it should be ok. And I just discovered, via a YT video (no link but recently posted) that you still get Jello doing the LSO thing on it. Nice.

Seems the colors are better - ‘richer’?. These guys have always done a very good job on 2 things: Flight model and lighting.

I’d hazard to guess Vulkan might take that last little bit-o sass out of that stutter too.

I ordered the Apache now. Not related but, hey, that joy-ride a few minutes ago pushed me over the edge - don’t expect to use it much but feeling like throwing them some [more] bones now.

PS: only took about 1 minute to download. LOVE my shiny new connection! Would’ve been an hour or more.

I am out of VR now, but from my main three sims - XP, IL2, DCS - DCS performed and looked best for me in VR, so they are doing it right I think

…it actually makes sense as they aim also for professional VR sim market. I wish I could recommend VR over the big screen for semi-pro users. I did short fly in KingAir profi sim and it used multiple big (65" maybe?) screens. I guess projectors are not used that much in this business anymore.

Interesting…In Today’s “Weekend News” They say This…
" The Mariana Islands now include waves that break on the shorelines and a more realistic seabed. Nine new islands and an airfield have also been added. Check out the In Development Screenshots, they are stunning."

They are animated for me, but I couldn’t see that till I was skimming them in a Huey…

you also have the new “rounds hitting water” effect, rather than the 105mm splashes for 50 cal rounds

Another thing noted in this update is helicopters over water no longer kick up brown spray/ dust.

Thanks, you are right it’s hard to see but they are animated. Seems like they move too slow but minor detail.
