Weekend News Have a Great Weekend All!!
15 July 2022

Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends,

We are working on the MK-84 AIR general purpose, high-drag bomb for DCS: F-16C Viper. The MK-84 AIR contains a large and highly explosive packing, making it one of the most commonly used dumb bombs by the United States. It is with great pleasure that we inform you the MK-84 AIR will complete the Viper’s weapons roadmap.

This week we are eager to share the progress on our Dynamic Weather System. We will soon roll out several enhancements for wider testing that includes rainbows, moving clouds, ice halos, cirrus clouds, a weather preset visualiser tool for the Mission Editor, and more. See the Development Screenshots, they are truly beautiful.

Included in the next Open Beta update will be the KS-19 100mm Anti-Aircraft Artillery (AAA) cannon. Please check out the details below, and keep your eyes peeled for new animations.

Thank you for your passion and support.

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics

F-16C Viper

Coming soon to the DCS: F16 Viper is the MK-84 AIR. This 2,000 lbs general purpose bomb is fitted with a BSU/50U tail assembly ballute that provides high speed, low altitude delivery. The high drag of the bomb allows the aircraft to avoid the blast pattern. This can be an excellent choice to destroy runways, enemy unit concentrations, and high-value targets that require a low-altitude attack. You may select to deliver the bomb in either low-drag or high-drag mode based on mission requirements. The inert, training version will also be available.

We are currently working on a variety of weather system enhancements. In the above screenshot you may see the progress on the ice halo effect. Also in progress is the addition of cirrus clouds and moving clouds that are affected by wind direction and speed. The next task will be a preset selection window that will allow for rapid weather tuning using the Mission Editor.

Ground Unit

KS-19 100mm

Originally deployed aboard ships in the Second World War, the towed version was named the KS-19 heavy calibre anti-aircraft cannon, which also had some surprisingly good utility in the ground attack role against heavily armoured targets. Look out for the Soviet 100mm cannon coming in the next Open Beta.

Compared to the 23 and 57mm anti-aircraft artillery guns, the KS-19 allows engagement of targets at even higher altitudes. When combined, the three types of AAA provide a layered air defence umbrella.

Thank you again for your passion and support,

Yours sincerely,

Eagle Dynamics

Dad told a story of dropping a 2000 lb LGB from his Phantom on a hill, where the inhabitants were using their mortars to harass some Marines on an adjacent hill. He did this, but shortly thereafter got a call from the FAC, who relayed a message from the Marines who said that they would rather be mortared than have “one of those things dropped near us again”.

There was trouble in the land…The People didn’t like how the news was presented…they gave opinions and great suggestions…the presenter of the news listened to their pleas with an open ear…it was decided the People in the Land were indeed Right…Changes were made…And The Bells of Freedom and Democracy were once again heard ringing across The Golden Hills and Towns of The Great Land

Not to anger anyone but couldn’t you just screenshot the discussion instead of copying a lot of code-tabulated posts that make reading some sort of Myst-like puzzle game?

I’m thinking out loud here…
Is it ok to just copy/paste posts or screenshots from other fora? I have done that myself, so I’m not pointing fingers here. This discussion just made me think about it.
Would I like that discussions on this forum was posted elswhere?
Sure, posting about something interesting is totally ok, but maybe there should be a link to that forum and post too…?
What do you guys think?
@NineLine and @bignewy, how do you guys feel about this?

I think it’s definitely ok for something that’s an announcement made in an official capacity in a public setting, like in the above screen with published news about a delayed patch, but personally I still prefer a snippet or summary and a link instead of a screenshot. That way if information changes you still have access to the source.

I would think so too.
But I also think it’s a professional courtesy to say where this info originated, so maybe a link should be required? Sort of how the news media does it.
Screencapturing another forum may be touchy though. Technically that forum is under a copyright. But then again, they probably won’t mind help spreading the word either…

I’m not trying to overcomplicate things. Like I said, I just happened to think about this.

I wondered about this recently: I linked back here to a post I made (a review I think) cus, well, I was being lazy? Admit to being ignorant of such policies here, if any.

I assume we want more eyes here, at least for the public posts. Guess I need to read the rules here…bad on me.

I don’t think you can go wrong with a link, though… That’s just pointing readers to the source.
