DCS 2.7.X Screenshots (2021)

I am just amazed that this is DCS and not something like Arma:

Experimenting with the motion blur setting. I like the sense of speed and motion captured by the background blurring, but I dislike the distortion on the aircraft and on the edges of the screen. Evening SEAD as Jugs strike a train at the marshaling yard.

I only loaded one bomb but somehow had two.

The closest I’ll ever get to hitting something with a WW2 bomb.

If you’re not getting grass on your belly you aren’t strafing low enough.

The Jugs completely missed their target, so I took it out for them. Naturally.

Some more strafing sequences.

Reminds me of strafing with the Hs129 in Il-2. Those guns point too high so I almost crash into things with every pass.

Remember that vid @wagmatt did on the hornet strafing when that module was new. It showed a huge diference in dispersion between shallow angle strafing at 15degrees and a steeper angle of 30 degrees. Those fifteen degrees made the difference between a shotgun blast and a tight group @Magnum50 would be proud of.

Yep - the strafe gunnery equations are all compromises of geometry.

Steeper dive has a lot of gunnery benefits (less dispersion, less correction for drop, better sight picture etc.) but comes at the cost of more challenging speed management and a more crucial requirement for a firm break-off altitude as there’s a real possibility of not being able to recover if you’re too low and have let the airspeed build up with the nose 30 degrees down.

Also the steeper the dive angle, you need to pop up comparatively higher to commence - so there’s tactical considerations depending on the AA environment. Sometimes a quick low pop up to do a shallow 10 degree dive is the safest option if you have to be down in the weeds to live.

In saying that…if you are allowed altitude and you’re good at what you’re doing, a steep disciplined dive where you manage all your speeds and altitudes throughout is probably always the most lethal. It’s just really easy to blow through your minimum breakoff altitude and into AAA range if you’re not careful.

A bit of a jumbled comment, sorry - but I guess I’m trying to say, shallow is easier and I don’t have to be as well on top of my game - but winners dive steep, manage their speed and go home to **** the prom Queen.

Sorry these are so rough. Cropped from the right lens of my Reverb G2. I don’t know if this is a DCS or a Reflected Simulations thing, but the bomber streams just look so random and real.

Are those skins for the F-15 and the Hawkeye standard with DCS or did you have to download them from the user files? They look really good.

Yep, they are all from User Files. The F-15 skins are by user FSZ and the E-2 is by Easypeac3.

Shooting oxygen molecules since the AI made different decisions in the replay.

Break over High Halden

Somebody bombed a hangar while I was gone. Good thing the fuel depot was safe.

Some fat friends made it home from strikes further south.
