Seems to me that @BeachAV8R did a cold and dark review on the Blackbird here at Mudspike or at another site several of us frequented quite regularly a few years ago. :thinking:

Wheels

Thats an SR71, the YF12 and A12 didn’t have Chines all the way to the front

I was going to try that one tonight! Glad it’s good, how long did the run through take?

not too long… its about a 46km flight to where the missions are set, then i picked up the hip flight about 6km outside the target town

Unfortunately there isn’t much to review with this one. It’s pretty much a F-15 in a Blackbird suit.
It’s using the F-15C cockpit and comes with a custom SFM (I think).
Can’t really blame VSN tho, this aircraft has such a unique mission profile it’s pretty much useless in DCS.

That’s what I thought, not sure why the VSN guys named it that way

Maybe it’s some version or a mock up that I’m not familiar with. But I’m nearly positive that no A12 or prototype interceptor version of Archangel ever looked that way. But I would be interested to be proved wrong on it. Love the history of that particular program

@EightBall :astonished: What a shot!

Since they had to redesign the nose to accomodate the radar I’d say that it’s highly unlikely any YF-12 aircraft had chines all the way to the tip.

thank you :slight_smile:

An excellent point. I even looked up the M-21 prototype and that was the same

Have you tried “deep stalling” it yet?

That’s actually my new wallpaper. :slight_smile:

Quite a few times. Only once on purpose.

Does it go really quiet?

The departure? Pretty much. The AoA warning tone is mostly useless as by that time you’ve already flipped on your back. If you catch the pitch moment fast enough you can shove the stick forward and cancel the stall.
