DCS 2.7.X Screenshots (2021)

I believe its the dirty 480th FS livery you posted to user files!

Neat, I thought so.

My more modern or weathered 480th skins don’t have a dark nose cone like the one in your screenshot, hence I’m asking.

I only made one Viper livery with a dark nose cone, which is this one from about 2003.

I simultaneously love and hate the Rhino mod. Love it because Rhinos and Growlers. Hate it because it’s not an official mod with the same quality standard in 3D modeling or textures.

Round 2 of the CVW-3 showcase.

LSO’s view.

Glorious OK 3-wire on a SHB.

Spinni bois go brrrr

Is the deck clear yet? I’m out of piddle packs.

The nose-suck bug is getting the best of me sometimes.

Been taking some time to relearn the Tomcat and utilize the new features with latest update. Built a mission in the Marianna’s with very long transit times to the AO and back to the carrier. I just love the long flights with the new clouds…I still can’t get over them and how good they are. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of cloud surfing.

Anyway, some screenshots of the test flight for the mission. I also have to say I love the new carrier, the USS Forrestal.

I’ve been doing similar long haul flights in the Hornet. Clouds combined with AG radar checking out all the islands there’s plenty to do while en route.

tried that dynamic campaign for the hind … very good, so far … started well and finished in a burning crater … as the participants of @schurem fight club know this is fairly normal for me

Addicted to the Forrestal. No interactive deck crew is a bummer, but statics work fine. My only gripe is the Hornet auto-yeeting me off the deck before I can do a controls wipeout.

Is that the default Forrestal deck texture or a modded one? I’ve been using a lighter version since I find the default one way to dark.

It’s the standard texture. I think the angle of the sun and the angle of your viewpoint really affects the deck visibility. In the groove the markings are really hard to spot so I just aim for the middle of the tire marks

Another gorgeous set, @Clutch . Some of these look real, great job!

I’ve just been toying around some more.
In the serie of mods nobody asked for: Sinking Ships.
Custom ships with sinking animations baked in. The video starts halfway through and is sped up, the whole process takes around 30min.

And I’m probably spending way too much time on this but I’m trying to get semi-realistic looking light bars in DCS. Given the dull aspect of nav/strobe lights in DCS, I’m actually quite surprised with what can be achieved.

Some silly b-roll

And…a few pics, it’s the screenshot thread after all…

Did something I don’t do often enough in DCS. Did some night flying training in the L-39ZA across the Caucuses utilizing the RKL-41 ADF System along with RSBN and PRMG systems. I started out at the Air Base at Anapa and went out into the Black Sea, found my NDBs and finally my RSBN beacon making my way to Mozdok Air Base.

Going over the Black Sea was simply terrifying…it was completely dark. I mean not a light anywhere and I really had to keep myself focused on my instruments. It was simply, absolutely a blast.

As I got back over the coast, through the clouds I could begin to see lighted cities down there through the cloud cover. May I say again the clouds in DCS World are phenomenal! The moon was out as well which provided some decent light…it was beautiful and I kept following those instruments hoping they would take me correctly to Mozdok like I had planned.

Finally I was within range of communication with the controllers at Mozdok and called in that I was “inbound.” They gave me instructions regarding what runway I was to use and lit up the runway with the lights which I may unashamedly say I welcomed whole-heartily.

The last screenshots are of me looking back at my co-pilot stating “We made it Ivan, time for celebration with drink!.” All in all it was a most enjoyable flying session.
