DCS 2.8

I might actually take your offer on this, thanks.

I still think I will use as starting point the US troopers but - thanks nevertheless.

I did work together with Baltic Dragon and some of my work is now part of DCS- but only planes not infantry.
If I’m lucky it’s nothing too different.

If you can tell the difference in the infantry models while blasting along in the Harrier, you sir have way better vision than I do. I do get wanting the armor assets those I can tell apart right before I fly into the terrain on a gun/rocket run.

It’s not about that- I know it’s silly- but it’s about knowing that it’s all UK troops.
When in the After Action report I see US, it ruins it.

I understand people wanting authentic missions from history but for me, except for The Channel & Normandy, DCS maps don’t lend themsleves to this
recreating battles from the Falklands in 82 or the Six Day War, for example, or anything that is outside the time period of the map isn’t going to be 100% accurate even if you did have an ‘asset pack’.

Have you thought about creating some ‘what if’ missions using the available assets e.g. a Falklands War II?

Let me be clear- I am not recreating that battle. I picked up the setting and made a battle in the same spot.

I just want to have Brits shooting around mount Harriet at night.

See?

Just something modern that is centered around that landmark.

So, since my request was “Do you guys know of other troops I can find around because I googled and found squat”- and apparently the answer is no - thank you but this is getting uncomfortably off the mark.

Thanks.

If you set coalition to UK you’ll still get infantry units that will show up as UK in the after action report, right? To be fair the US troops we have don’t even look like US troops :joy:

when I was naive youngster, I wanted to relieve, as a virtual combat pilot, all these campaigns.

now, even if I am provided with fully dynamic campings of it, I wont be that thrilled to play it.

I now know that Iam going to end up like MIA in the first or second mission already, so no piont of even trying

Tonight i tried out Open XR again. For once i had a great experience w it in VR.
At first i flew the Jug. I was having a great time. Then i decided to try something else.
The star of the show tonight was VSN’s STARFIGHTER!!! I took off from Incerlink. At 15 to 25k feet i fought 2 Fishbeds. I gunned one down and put a Winder up the others tailpipe. I cant believe this mod is free. Gorgeous!!! The lights on the instruments are beautiful is low light. You must fly the hell out of it. I nearly lost it a few times but boy its so fun to fly.

Early Access Launch of the DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM

DCS: F-15E Top Tips

  • Radar channels are modelled, so if in MP all are close together and on channel A, then they will see interference that looks like jamming on the radar - they need to deconflict channels.
  • PACS - All none smart weapons have to be manually input into the jet on each in game rearm.
  • Mic switch needs to be set to “on” to communicate with ground crew - default it is off.
  • A/P button on the UFC keypad not only shows the autopilot menu, but also enables autopilot. If they want to just look at the menu, then use the UFC PB9 from the main menu. (This is correct behaviour)
  • LANTRIN pod will prohibit laser use above 25kft - intended behaviour.
  • LANTRIN Pod has only FLIR function, no CCD/TV.
  • There is an option in F-15E special options to set how many processor cores are used for the radar - adjusting this will help with FPS issues.
  • Cold Start - Apply the parking brake before setting INS to ALIGN, otherwise the process may fail. Avoid rearming whilst alignment is in progress.

DCS: F-15E by RAZBAM - Known Issues

  • Bombs dropped in AUTO mode can land long of target for wings level release. It is recommended to do a dive bombing for improved accuracy.
  • CBUs can open prematurely, specially if dropped above 1500 ft AGL
  • HUD Repeater in MPCD sometimes not visible
  • MFD exports not yet implemented
  • Volume control for TEWS & TACAN WIP
  • WSO HOTAS commands WIP
  • AA/AG Gun piper aims high.
  • Some items on UFC not synced between front and back cockpit - WIP
  • Cockpit Mirrors not symmetrical
  • Rear cockpit MFD displays cannot be programmed.
  • It is not possible to change the GBUs laser code with the kneeboard.
  • Sometimes PACS does not automatically recognize a weapons load. It must be manually entered.
  • GUARD is not monitored when selected in the Presets and active mode is Manual Frequency
  • Using AG Radar HRM mode can cause a drop in FPS during the image digitalization phase. This depends on the running computer specs.
  • Very Rarely, when using AG Radar, DCS will freeze for a second while checking the terrain. This depends on the running computer specs.
  • It is recommended to use the AG radar with DCS MT.
  • AI wingmen will attack with gun only despite having more relevant ordnance.
  • Dumping fuel will cause fuel totalizer to read 0.
