Ouch. A LOT OF work there! Nice. Appears somebody figured out how to get into the terrain dB. Talent I donât have.
Nice F-100D development video in the latest newsletter!
Yes, saw it. I had never seen that big AOA indicator (or whatever it was) in the Collins Foundation F model. That thing was massive. I donât think that they had it in the D.
Latest newsletter says theyâre merging Open Beta and Stable. Makes things easy. I always just ran the Beta.
I think this is a good move because it should lessen the workload and keep things streamlined. Ultimately, we should benefit from more stable updates.
Iâm sure this is not going to be popular with certain people but my uncle always used to say, you canât keep everyone happy.
Probably be a good time to re-install as well.
Well, one good thing about this change in procedure will be that if the update is borked everyone will be up the same sh!t creek without a paddle.

I wonder how fast they are gonna move on the uniting of the branches and I wonder if this has been what has been holding up the release of the Phantom and the updated Syria map.
Great Point!
???
A performance thing? [scurrying over to the ED | Syria forumâŠ]
Must be this:
Not sure what you mean, the update you linked is actually already out. Syria looks great at night. I am confused.
Me too.
Mentioned back in December the map is getting an update with 4 new airfields and significant FPS and performance upgrades. But the update never came and there has been no communication on it since.
Thanks. Iâve been out of touch on this.
I love that they are thinking about those with âaverageâ systems. Good on them.
Honestly Urgaâs support so far has been pretty amazing. The updates and adding of details and the performance increases make it a very solid map. Its frustrating because even with my updated system that chews through most things on DCS these days the Marianas still makes it sweatâŠ
Maybe theyâre gonna use it as a âJungle by the Seaâ test case. Maybe Wishful thinking.

DCS Patch status
Current version number: DCS 2.9.2.49940
Next update: Planned for February 2024
For the past several years, we have released DCS in two forms: the Open Beta, which includes the most recent changes to allow broad testing and the Stable version which is based on the most recent Open Beta and has no known crashes, thus the term Stable. In 2024, we will be moving to unified DCS updates.
This change has been a common customer request and will streamline our release process. We believe that it will also help avoid version confusion for both single-player missions and multiplayer servers. Starting with our first update of the year in February, we will also be making the same changes to the DCS Steam Edition. Please stay tuned for more details.

Unified DCS version FAQ:
The update will be seamless for stand alone DCS and Steam, you just update as usual when we are ready to patch.
Your saved games locations will not be affected and control profiles remain as is.
Patch cycles will be around every six weeks, just depends on development progress and testing results.
but the really big question is ⊠is the phantom going to be there
And if we think the next planned update is 6 weeks after that, it would no longer be in the summerâŠ
