DCS 2.9

after some more experimentation, i have found that TAA gives the best quality/FPS for me, almost no ghosting and with sharpening set at 0.3, screens and gauges very readable… this also gives a static 36 fps with no jitters, nice and smooth

seem to have taken some ground fire that knocked out an engine but still made it back to the farp
this was on hollow point in the Erl sis mission

Here’s what I’m running now with my Quest 2 at 72Hz and max resolution.

One thing I noticed while tweaking is that things that used to impact frames no longer do, and some things that used to not impact frames now suddenly do. Like the grass/clutter. It used to have negligible impact for me, but now it will knock me down a solid 5fps.

(uploaded wrong pic at first, double-check new one)

Im getting a solid 165 fps except over Vegas looking at the ground when low… Then i get 120+.
I have never seen it look this good or this smooth. Im on a new ROG monitor running @1440. Its an AMD Ryzen 5800X3D and a 3080Ti. I am using DLSS This is incredible.

Allow me to roll back my previous statements about performance in this update. Updated my nvidia drivers today and unlocked DLSS. Let me just say whoa… much better performance on all levels. Even under large scenes with many units.

Now I just gotta figure out why the apaches controls are bugged.

“unlocked”? I’m not that familiar with DLSS.

What nVidia card do you have?

Thanks, all good to hear.

what issues did you find with the apache’s controls

Still playing with all the options, but the new graphics options are awesome! Shimmering drives me nuts, and even with MSAA 4x I was getting it on things like fences, power lines, etc. DLSS is like MSAA with even less shimmering.

Still fiddling with the upscaling options. They all do a great job of boosting frames, but it’s too blurry for me, even with sharpening boosted.

Also trying to compare my new Quest 3 against my Reverb G2 at the same time!

Downside with DLAA is that ATM you get pretty obnoxious ghosting on moving knobs. etc. inside the pit.

DCS Runs the DLSS 3.5 Runtimes,

If your nVidia Driver isnt up to date, more specifically the NGX API DLLs, then DCS will disable those options.

even if you turn sharpening down?

Yes, with sharpening at 0. I’m sure it will get better in time.

DLxx will always have ghosting on some items, nature of the DL routine, as you cant put the render motion vectors on everything.

My controls won’t map. In fact when I put my back up profile in it got worse. I’ve tried loading other profiles and no luck, only a few commands will map. This is specifically for my Xbox controller that I use for the gunner seat.

I made the change to autoexec.cfg but still have the same square dots.

I love the dots, great for SA. Sure they ain’t perfect, and they’re bound to be improved upon.

I been fiddling with settings here and there. Somehow my openXR spatial information has gotten borked as my cockpit has gone slightly askew :frowning:

Thing is hella fast tho. I went from view distance high to EXTREME. And kept the same framerate. Love it!

Nice! We exist in different DCS worlds. But glad it’s working for some.

I didn’t have any issues with my controls, it just carried across from 2.8 I think it has been mentioned on the Ed forums about an issue with Xbox controllers … but I have found there is a problem. With attitude hold mode … it doesn’t hold attitude …,and is a bit all over the place :grinning:

@Andrew116 would it be OK to link this ED forum post by @bignewy in your OP? I wished that I could have read it before tinkering with graphics settings.

The SSS shadows are not (yet) compatible with DLSS or DLAA. I hope they will. They look great on the trees.

So Vulkan is coming at some point according to past statements, does that imply a move to DX12 as well or will it stay DX11?
I don’t know if Vulkan supports frame gen.
