DCS 2.9

In the trailer it seems to be the 'stan.

Oh man good year for DCS rotor heads shaping up. Unfortunately until there is some resolution with the latest drama, I’m not sure I’m ready to start spending money on this game again just yet.

If memory serves, a single CH-47 survived the Exocet sinking of Atlantic Conveyor during the Falklands conflict. The back story would make for a kick ass single player campaign. Or part of a greater air campaign.

Bravo november is so lovely. Look up what happened to the pilot in Afghanistan that was flying her.

I’m so pleased i got to touch that piece of history. ā€œSir, please stop rubbing the chinook and weepingā€

Ouch. My epilepsy kicked in for a minute. I bit half my tongue off. The good news is that I’ve got DCS back after the Quest bug hiatus!

Reminds me of the short Lucky 13 from Love + Death + Robots

Whaaa?

But I get it. My recent excursions with the Apache have been quite pleasant.

Co-worker of mine (and his wife) flew the 'Hook. Had some good stories, yet the ones that stand out was the ā€˜zapping’ of uninitiated ā€˜thing’ (hook I guess) handlers when dropped to attach a load - static electricity discharge would knock them on their backside. Apparently this was quite humorous. Doubt it will be simulated of course.

Awww yeah we gettin’ the Chook soon.

Correct. In addition, the only portion the AI sees is the head. So you can just become an ostrich and they’ll ignore you.

On principle I don’t like preordering, let alone for digital products. But DCS is different. The chook is different. So I bought future me a little present

Tell you what I did briefly think about it…

Apart from the hind, this is the chopper I’ve been waiting for. I can do so so much playtime with a chinook

Before I flew Paradise Lost, I didn’t see much appeal to either Huey nor Hip or other trash-haulers. But that changed. There’s nothing like finding some screaming scared kids in the jungle by huffduff and putting the thing in some nigh-on impossible spot to get them out.

I can’t wait to fly Bravo Novembers’ illustrious career. We will have all theatres it operated in in a year or so. I wonder if they’ll do an Afghanistan/Chinook bundle like they did with the gulf and hornet.

This is what its all about. That is a feeling i can get right behind

X-Trident’s Chinook in X-Plane really makes one appreciate what a wonder the Chinook is. It boggles my mind that Vertol came up with such a sophisticated design nearly 60 years ago. X-Trident’s version is a compromise. A lot of systems are only partially modeled. So it gives one just a taste of the variety and challenges that come with it. DCS will fill those gaps. It will be worth it to me just to sandbox trash deliveries to boats at night and in inclement weather.

So it looks like not only looks like will we be having ā€œthe f4 fly in and crashā€ night but a celebration of the chinook crashing session :joy::joy:

Someone pointed out the guard tower looks similar to the ones in Germany during the Cold War …
