DCS Super Carrier, or how Will learned to love skittles of all the wrong colours

I believe they are static, I will check and see if they are something that might come with the pack, or what happened to them.

A bit more about The Tomcat/Super Carrier Discussion from Wags…

Had there been any question in my mind that the Supercarrier wouldn’t work with the F-14 I wouldn’t have bought it as I own the F-14 and not the F-18.

If there was any question about this then they should have only sold it to people who own the 18.

HB is a great team and I am confident it will be supported - just Wags saying things that are not exactly so again - like saying that they were “extremely careful not to make it seem like any of the things in the 2020 post were coming in 2020” and you can quote at least a dozen statements of things coming in 2020 in that post.

Wags Response…

We have every confidence that HB will be able to integrate their F-14 into our development version to allow us to support the Tomcat on Supercarrier. They wish and plan to do this, and this is why our video developer felt confident enough to include it in a video. In fact, we already have all the voice over files to support it. When we say we don’t know yet, it is only because it is not done at this time, certainly not indication that it will not be done.

Once we have new news on this, we’ll be happy to share it with you.

Thanks

…and this is the sort of stupid shirt that keeps wags from pushing out another great ASMR vid on radar gunnery in the viper.

Inexperienced customers will always ask you to predict the future.
Experienced customers will always try to build pressure so you have to accept the risk of not being able to predict the future.

If you ever happen to be able to predict the future, let me know. We‘ll start a very successful business together. :money_mouth_face:

I am going to redirect and take this thread into the political abyss. Look at that shot of the Kruz. It’s almost beautiful. And if not “beautiful” to your eye, it is unquestionably different. Long before there was the Stennis, there was the Kruz. Long before there was the Hornet or the Tomcat, there was the Su33. I am strictly talking the game world of course and all of this is because long before there was DCS, there was “Flanker”. I miss that thing! But the Ka50 taught me the joy of pushing buttons to bring a machine to life. Why? Why? Why?! can we not do this with the Su33? C’mon Putin! You steered a country with an economy the size of Holland to her place front and center on the world stage. In a western world where many, if not most of us, fear your influence and might even choose to avoid your products, your game developers have overcome all that noise with creations that we simply must have. This is a tiny chance, probably one of thousands available to Russia, to put that breakthrough to use. The Su33 represents what it was to be a front line naval fighter back when there was still a USSR. You’ve got much better stuff now. So let this one out to the world. Let ED give it the love they gave another almost has-been, the A-10. (Oh, and put a reactor in the Kruz!) Yours truly, smokinhole.

Ah… that’s your user name and not a nickname for the Kuznetsov

Just bought it.

To be honest. I would probably benefit from an F14 that exploded everytime it touches a deck.

It would cover up all the times I blow them up crashing into the deck.

I know right! Just like the bug with the Viggen that makes it explode every time it lands on a runway…or near a runway…or the side of a hill at 600 kph…or another Viggen… :grimacing:

(…and that’s my other excuse that I’m sticking to)

I’m having trouble wrapping my head around this one as well. You can land the F-14 on the current Kuznetsov, user made carriers like the Charles de Gaulle, even the Tarawa. Seems pretty straightforward to me. So it sounds more like it’s due to things like deck crew, landing lights, etc.

Probably going into the elevater and back into hangar deck poses the biggest challenge…

My take is that this is related to the catapults. You will have AI directing you in the correct position, attaching the hold-back bar, hooking up to the shuttle, where the crew need to stand around the aircraft etc. I assume the specifics for these interactions need to be set up for each aircraft.

thats why we need a navy version of the viggen… to do a three point turn when we get a bit close to the edge

Of note, well known DCS campaign author and specialist @Baltic_Dragon has been working with the creators of the Fighter Pilot Podcast (Vincent “Jell-O” Aiello) and the author of Raven One (Kevin Miller) on a campaign centered around the book Raven One.

Of news for people interested in that campaign is that it will be centered around DCS: Super Carrier (Supercarrier?).

From other parts of the thread that I will link below, @Baltic_Dragon notes that the campaign is 2/3 complete and will, obviously, get into our hands after the release of DCS: Super Carrier. Reasons for this are mostly technical (parking locations on the carrier, etc) but also revolve around delivering an authentic experience. They do not rule out releasing a version at a later date that does not require DCS: Super Carrier.

From hoggit (link):

Dear all,

After long discussion with Kevin and Vincent we’ve decided to build Raven One campaign around the upcoming DCS Supercarrier module. There are many reasons, but I will list the most relevant ones below:

We strive to bring you the most realistic F/A-18 experience. It wouldn’t be complete without living deck, ATC and all the rest of the features.

Some of the launches (like Bandar Abbas one) are huge and not possible to set up using currently available carriers. You simply cannot launch 10-12 aircraft in desired order with existing 4 parking spots…

We are planning to make use of additional facilities, like the briefing room (though we have to wait and see how it works in practice).

Posting it now while Supercarrier is 50% off for those who already own the Hornet. Therefore if you plan to try Raven One and don’t have the Supercarrier yet, it might be a good time to grab it!

That’s awesome! I just finished reading Raven 1 and absolutely loved it.
