Thanks for pointing that out. I thought it looked…weird but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
That will be in the DCS: Steel Beach Picnic mission set DLC.
And it will cost 59.99!
Can I pre-order for Early Access with 20% off at $47.99?
Yeah, you’re missing small arms practice at sea… Seems fun, then you get hot brass down your privates (and not in a good way):
- FOD Walk-downs in the hangar bay
- Dodging the CMC and XO during Cleaning Stations
- That One Guy who thinks it’s fun to throw float coats over the side at 0230 every night for a week (the REAL reason)
- Steak, lobster, and ice cream before the 1MC announcement that you’re being extended or missing the next two liberty ports due to operational commitments.
- Starting long lines in the hangar deck in front of locked storeroom doors to screw with the air wing.
- Getting yelled at and more GQ drills because the air wing isn’t playing.
- Reactor drills
- Main space fire drills (refer to the FOD walk down bullet point)
- Playing “what’s in it for me?” with Supply when you need a voltage regulator circuit card for an emergency repair at 2100.
- ORSE
I NEED this module. Concerned about how it will work with netcode and how the AI deck crew will handle multiple aircraft when current ATC can’t manage multiple aircraft. Oh and fixed camera views for cinematography?
Don’t forget the litany of “Sweepers” calls, or is the voice pack another DLC?
Also a very reasonable rationale for bringing back keel-hauling.
My XO said as much over the 1MC after the 3rd night of that on our UNITAS. Followed by hanging from the yardarm, if he had his way.
I was taking the Steel Beach module name fairly literally, so would add:
*manhandling grill from fan room up the forward escape trunk to topside: minimum 5 man evolution
*include slot in the bridge for shark watch; comes with an M16 and a hand held radio
Oh, that’s cute. MWR usually has a store room for those off the hangar bay, and either an upper weapons or aircraft elevator are used to take them topside.
And I’ve never been on a ship that’s had a swim call, but my understanding is there are watches on elevators at hangar level, and another one on the fantail. And maybe the small boat sponsons aft port and starboard.
The fan room of a sub ends up being the defacto storage area for any personal gear too large to fit in your bed pan under the rack. One guy kept his guitar in there. Young JO’s would swear, tripping over this stuff, while checking the ventilation line up prior to the weekly battery charge.
I know this is a touch O.T but as a WWII Submarine History Lover and a Harley-Davidson Enthusiast,I ind this a Good Spot to post The Story of The Skipper who couldn’t be without his “HOG”
I can’t wait.
Enjoying a Steel Beach Picnic in the Gulf of Alaska, 2004 (note my not necessarily within regs uniform).
GET YOUR HANDS OUT OF YOUR POCKETS
…sir
I sometimes wonder if the insanity over hands in pockets got started because of the legend of the NCO who would, ahem, stick his, er, hands down the… Posterior of his pants, salute someone, then shake their hands.
The Army calls those Air Force gloves
