DCS Super Carrier, or how Will learned to love skittles of all the wrong colours

This is very, very, very true. The problem is usually absence of regulation and instruction, which seems to be prevalent in Signal.

Thanks. Just happen to have an unused Audible credit, and see that it’s one of their offerings.

You’ve said it once. Why do you feel the need to say it again?

No clue, honestly- after all, I was a nuke, and according to an old CO of mine, we got propay so we didn’t need awards. Heck, my first (and only) NAM was my end-of-tour when I was leaving recruiting (and the Navy).

The decision to dock during a pandemic in the area was a bit of an eyebrow raiser.

No. The Carl Vinson was the first to visit in 2018.

but the TR does seem to have only been the second one making the political implications just about as serious.

Well it could have been all those stories from their dads and grandads about that awesome Vietnam tail they got during the war and wanting to sample some of it too. yikes

My understanding is, that call was made by the battle group admiral. There’s also at least one article I’ve read that suggests the initial vector for infection may have been a group of contractors who flew out at some point during that time.

Again, it’ll be an interesting Congressional investigation eventually.

Regardless of what y’all think about this whole thing, it’s important to remember these are human lives we’re talking about here. Keep them all in your thoughts and prayers right now - I fear for how much worse it’s going to get.

Ok, y’all know I am not a moderator here, but I’d still like to suggest that we get back to topic. This thread is about ED’s supercarrier and not as much about the real one.

Must be all those Alan Jackson songs I listen to.

As for the helo and Harrier ops: I’d bet the answer is “maybe, but not on release”.

I’m guessing those who own helicopters or the Harrier will be able to circumvent the “can’t catch a wire” rule, but they probably won’t be able to rearm, etc. on it.

Does anyone know how long the pre-purchase discount is good for? Is it usually right up until it goes live in an update?

I’m thinking you should probably pull the trigger very soon if you want to get the discount.

On Steam, the pre-purchase coupon expired on March 25. Expected release is April 15.

Ooh, is that a blue shirt I see there?

I’m really, REALLY still holding out hope for getting chains modeled on the carrier deck, instead of the default chocks we have now. Don’t even need an animation of the plane captains and blue shirts breaking down the jets, but just having the chain sets shown for stationary planes would be HUGE for immersion.

Oh, and changing the intercom/ voice options from “crew chief” on the flight deck to “plane captain.”

It’s the little things that I find to be the most immersion-breaking for me.

Expect more along the lines of “Hot Shots” instead of “Top Gun” for the first couple weeks.

So basically, more like the fleet in real life.
