Still I wouldn’t mind at all if they(anybody!) built a pacific island map, a carrier, some zero’s to shoot at and a hellcat or corsair to do it with.

Yeah it’s a damn shame they couldn’t release the map tools to the public.
I already had pretty good terrain meshes for Midway and Wake in my GIS and prepared them for game use (filling holes and deleting spikes in the terrain data, the usual)
Small terrain, a lot of water. It would have been easy.
