Exciting new releases!

I keep holding off on some games hoping I can play them in native VR. I guess I’m missing out because of that approach…

Maybe that “metro awakening” can scratch a stalker-ish VR itch? Have no idea if it’s any good though.

I kind of went the inverse road. Ever since I put out the first patched version of USS Nimitz for Arma 3, I’m more or less excited when pushing out something to the community. Usually it’s proportional to the amount of work that went into the release - well knowing that a lot of work will never even get noticed.

On contemporary games I’m quite excited about Sea Power, like others here. It looks like an approachable game to the genre, coming along much less dry than the venerable Harpoon or the highly technical Command Modern Operations.

We can be optimistic though, despite my living through the Interstellar Marines thing I was still happy when Ed Scio tried to make CAP2. And now it looks like he’s got another round of funding through new Microprose…

We’ll see if the sim ever actually releases, and then whether it’s actually fun… that’s about as excited as I get these days :joy:

I’m excited to see previews of Jason’s Combat Pilot…I also look forward to The DCS end of year 2025…And Beyond reveal video.
Other than that…The upcoming AC Evo SimRacing game has got my interest peaked.

I’m excited for MSFS2024 while at the same time a little nervous that my internet won’t keep up with it.

I’m also excited for Sea Power being released tomorrow.

For me it’s not quite the same. I don’t have the cloudfare front page issue. What I get is a little red x at the bottom right of this very screen. That “x” tells me that Mudspike has kicked me and any writing is forgotten after that point. So my posts must be about this length and no longer. That’s just not my sty…

Very true!

I don’t have a lot of time to write… But lately what was so exciting for me was playing Arma Antistasi with my favorite bunch of people in the world, my fellow Mudspikers.

I cannot overstate just how amazing it felt.
The only thing that rivaled it was the original release of Elite Dangerous after playing the 10 missions in Closed Beta.
I literally couldn’t remove myself from the seat…

Currently though I have so much going on my life that I simply started collecting DOS boxes again.

I will probably have a few more in the next month… I’m eyeing some really old glories.

I must admit that the new sea power game has got me somewhat excited … to the point of re-listening to Red Storm ( even though one doesn’t really need a reason to that great book)

Just got past dance of the vampires :grinning: looking forward to recreating that

Ah, one thing I forgot…
As someone else said, creating content for players is also very exciting for me.
Preparing all my work for SKALD was some of the best I felt in years.
I am helping with a few games in the works- one of which is another old-school RPG but back on the Commodore 64.

Combat Pilot and Korea both look to be good upcoming sims, as are the theater/plane additions to Great Battles and ever more DCS planes and terrains.

But “excited”? Hmmm. STALKER 2 has been a long time coming (they released all 3 Metro games PLUS remasters of the first 2 since the last STALKER!) and I want to play that.

Sniper Elite Resistance looks like another good entry to the series using a new Brit sniper instead of old Karl.

Assetto Corsa Evo could be really good if Kunos doesn’t drop the ball and just make it basically the same as the last 2 but with just better graphics.

Borderlands 4 I’m hoping will be as good as 2/better than 3.

The new Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is getting decent previews, so I’m hopeful for that one.

Honestly, though, I have such a large suite of existing games that I have yet to get through that I don’t know if any of them really “excite” me anymore.

Stalker 2 I will be playing on release day which is 8 days from now.

Fun topic, @Victork2 !

My excitement is very targeted (no pun intended). The most exciting sim or game for me recently was the arrival of DCS Apache. It has had enough fixes to make it the only thing I fly in DCS, except for some A-10C sessions. I love flying the Apache.

I used to joke about relegating myself to a Cessna 172 in MSFS when I’m too old to fly combat. Hasn’t happened yet, but I do enjoy VFR in MSFS2020 and am excited for MSFS2024.

Gamewise, I was all excited about Starfield and Cyberpunk but the initial bugs, and horrible transition times while it loads the next scene put a big damper on my enthusiasm. I actually bought Cyberpunk, played it for a couple of hours, and then it was still buggy in the training section. I used Steam’s return credit and sent it back.

I still enjoy boomer shooters like ArmA3 and HL2. They are old titles, but they work and retain the fun of tactical shooting without running gunning.

AAA title hyperbole is beyond tolerable. I don’t get any interest until I read from others a title is viable.

hmmm, that does look interesting!

Soon as some buggy reports arrive, I may get it. Enjoyed the previous METRO versions.

It took a while for Starfield to grow me but eventually it did. It just didn’t grab me instantly like Skyrim or Fallout.

Cyberpunk 2077 grabbed me right away though. I just found the world to be very immersive. I only played the PC version so I did not experience those massive show stopping bugs that the console players experienced.
