Games you really tried to like but just couldn’t

I don’t argue with you @schurem, my wife is an absolute cyberpunk-holic.

I REALLY tried with the witcher 3, i gave red dead 2 a fair chance. I really played cyberpunk, i almost enjoyed it. But i really think that possibly I can’t deal with “talkies” any more. I just find it interminably boring listening now. Its like a part of me broke

The other thing was the hit counter markings, they really irritated me the first time i tried 2077, @Harry_Bumcrack told me you could turn it off. That, admittedly made it much better. But the driving is so absolutely shite that i couldn’t hack it.

CP2077 and Witcher 3 are two of the finest examples of the genre and both are a masterclass in how to craft interactive storytelling.

As for the rest of your post. I would agree with you but then we would both be wrong :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

And Ace They have, fixed is probably the wrong word, but have made the driving in Cyberpunk a whole lot better since you last probably tried it?

Echoing Squadrons. I just got TFTC for XWA and called it good.

Battlefield 6. It just didn’t feel like Battlefield in terms of weapon handling and physics. It’s way too ‘light’ in that regard.

CP2077. I triiiied. But nah.

Interesting, I went to full manual targeting on Uboat and had a blast, reminded me some of more massive mods for SH4.

EA Sports WRC was a huge disappointment for me. I couldn’t get it to work and had zero help from the official forum. Total waste of time and money. And I enjoy the genre otherwise.

Can’t leave this alone - Red Dead Redemption 2 is my all time favourite game.

WRC is a weird one for me. I did get it to work, and enjoyed it to a certain degree, but wanted to wait with investing more time into it until the microstutters would be fixed.

…and then EA pulled Linux support, which disgusted me and I stopped playing (despite still being on windows at that time).

EA dropped the ball hard on that one.

Starfield.

Ohhh, I’d forgotten that. Even thought I thought the dialogue was cheesier than a cheddar factory I actually stopped because I got sidetracked by Baldur’s Gate 3, and never got back to it.

I might have to pick it up again and see how I go - jury is still out on this one, but the verdict isn’t looking good.

there is so many games out there that I tried to like but in the end … never bought and tried them … like almost all of them

I am such a bad gamer :upside_down_face:

… but I always liked to read reviews

See, i really liked Starfield. Loved it even. But the thought of playing it through again makes me feel weird. Never bothered with the Dlc.

I don’t think I’ll ever play it again, which is a real shame

For me, there are several games that fit the bill, but I’ll try to limit my list to the ones I found most disappointing.

Mass Effect: Andromeda - I loved the ME trilogy and had high expectations for Andromeda. I should’ve listened to the reviews… Where do I start about all that was wrong with Andromeda? It had more bugs than Starship Troopers. The animations were tough to look at. The characters did not grab my attention. There were enough issues that made the game frustrating. I installed and uninstalled it more times than I care to admit. Those who loved it defended it with some zeal. Good for them.

Anthem - I loved the idea, but I felt like the game did not live up to the hype. The experience was like watching a kick-ass trailer only to be let down by the actual movie.

Battlefield: Hardline - WTH!?! It felt like watching a bad cop movie while dining on stale pizza and Pepsi on a lonely Saturday night.

Corruption 2029 - I enjoyed the stealth and squad-based sci-fi combat but the game felt like watching a movie with recycled footage. The difficulty increased exponentially, while missions became repetitive both in structure and with the maps.

Callisto Protocol - reminded me of Dead Space, but the game felt like a shallow clone. The combat was frustrating and it quickly became repetitive.

Batman: Arkham Knight - I loved the Arkham series and had high hopes for Arkham Knight. It started out as fun, then came the Batmobile sequences. Game over for me. The feeling of driving on rails and quick time dodges turned me off.

Same…

You’re not alone. Space games are kind of my thing. TIE Fighter is in my top five games of all time.

Squadrons is one of my biggest disappointments in all of gaming. They tried to make a first-person shooter into a space dogfghter and failed miserably.

I agree with you guys. The gameplay was shite. the SP campaign although interesting was way too short. Setting up HOTAS was a PITA.

But. When I first fired it up in VR… Holy freaking spaceballs Batman, I’m sitting in an X-Wing. And because of that, I can’t hate it.

For me, VR alone does not a good game make.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Please can you do some more reviews of anything. I literally have tears….

I’m with them on Hardline. What a problematic piece of crap.

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. That one was based on a moment of inspiration - not sure if I have any more left. Hardline really was painful.
