Hulk Hogan passed away

The racist part, yes.

I have cousins who were the wrong age when the FIRST racist stuff from him came out, and for folks who look like us, that kind of thing from somebody you had previously looked up to will CRUSH your self-image and self-worth.

I think we are both good enough friends to know that isnt what I meant ted, despite the poor wording.
I apologise if that wasn’t clear

I can only imagine how soul crushing that is. Gone are the days that one would utterly and completely destroy their public image by coming out racist. But mark my words, this is but a phase.

Soon they’ll be put back in their closets, muttering their poisonous hate amongst themselves while it slowly erodes away in a wash of wholesome culture, from woke wrestling to star trek.

As it is now, things are untenable, and only the worst of the bigots are comfortable with it.

Kinda’ sucks. Everytime somebody I always thought was cool goes full Maga and starts screaming crazy stuff. I sigh and go “Damn”. :pensive:

Happened to almost all of the sport I identified strongly with. Now I no longer identify as “former MMA fighter” but as judoka

I am/was/kinda still a huge Eric Clapton fan, until racist ■■■■ spewed from his mouth.

Oh man it really was. As a guitar player I always looked up to him and then that.

This discussion reminds me of my general philosophy towards success and fame: The only way to get there is through some kind of manipulation or deception, and those who are good at such are typically not good people.

I would imagine that most famous people have at least a few skeletons in their closet.
