I never watch the basket (except in the A-4, because the probe is right out front). Tomcat to me isn’t hard because the view, but because the lag between input, movement and counterinput. I pio like a motherlover in that big ol bird.
Not an issue in VR though, you can see the probe and basket just fine in your peripheral vision
I still maintain the harrier is the easiest. Been a while mind. Really ought to update dcs at some point. Its been over a year id guess. Think I’m still on 2.6
Harrier is easy, but A-4 is far easier. You need to get that thing updated mate, you’ll love what they’ve done to the place!
I really want to try the multithreading etc just havent had time. Plus the kids have been using my pc in the living room so I’ve not got my kit set up and its a pain in the arse.
Lol….I recently just lost all my combat log book points….I committed “Fratricide” by running up the tail pipe of the new Viking
I plugged the S-3 tanker with a Tomcat and took a load of fuel from it. Finally. It took a 20% curve on pitch despite the 30cm tall stick, wings fixed at 45^, brakes and flaps slightly extended and a whole lot of finetuning the trim. I done did it!
Congrats
I usually set the wings to bomb mode (55° sweep iirc) but if manually setting 45° works for you that’s also good.
Good job sir!
I put the wings in bomb mode last time i did it
Same. I think that is even in the manual. I might have read it in Dave Baranek’s book though.
Congrats @schurem!
I still remember the first time I managed to take fuel in the Warthog, and when I first tanked in the Hornet.
It is quite the feeling of accomplishment.
Tanking is one of the hardest things in the sim, along with properly landing on an aircraft carrier.
…btw: have they implemented proper hose physics in DCSW now, or does it still pass through the plane and so on?
No. Two more weeks, I guess
Not sure (been a bit since I did any basket-sticking). Wish they would…cuz, why not? These things are what make this sim satisfying, IMHO.
