Back on point, I found Juan Brown’s analysis of what public information that is available spot on. Looking at the track of the surviving KC-135 and closer photo of the tail damage, indicates some amazing airmanship the crew displayed to bring her home. That could have ended far worse.
I just hope they did not die in vain. This stuff with Iran has been going on since I was in the 8th grade. Im 60s now. I dont know what the right answer here was. I thought this would be the right thing to do and that it would be over soon. But its getting worse, and It will get way worse before it gets better. The straights are CLOSED and we dare not ask any tankers to go in there. They are fish in a barrell if they go in there. Now its we put boots on the ground or lose the war. What is it going to be? Meanwhile we ask other countries to help. Through the laughter they say, “YOU STATED THIS MESS, YOU FIX IT” I cant say they are wrong. However, this was not a USA problem. This was a World problem. Some countries are already running low on petrol. YES I was shocked to hear this. I hope Mr Trump has a very strong rectrum. He is going to have to pull a mighty large rabbit out of it to get us out of this one. May the Gods help us.
I’d rather this mess accelerate alternative energy than have the world fix a problem the US started by dropping bombs. Which they wouldn’t have done if they had stayed on a previous treaty that was working fine. And that treaty had no reason to exist except for the CIA/MI6 overthrow of the Iranian government in the 1950s for the crime of (checks notes) hurting BP’s profits by nationalizing their oil.
The hubris and greed of humanity pisses me off on a near daily basis.
Anyone mind if we stay on topic? Politics and religion in the Talk section please.
Amen brother.
I’ll post this here, since it’s related to the elevated OPTEMPO the entire force is feeling across the board. And the news minimizing what actually happened before.
Fighting a fire for 30 hours is insane; we haven’t seen the likes of that since Enterprise and Forrestall back in the 60s. Also, 600 sailors displaced from their berthings, meaning berthings have been destroyed, and folks sleeping on decks and tables, while still supporting around the clock flight ops, if the administration is to be believed. That’s without the blow to morale from lost uniforms, civilian clothes, and personal items They’re overextending their shiny new toy, and this is the kind of thing that gets people killed or seriously injured; the ship has already been deployed for ten months in multiple different fleet areas, and they’re still not due to return to Norfolk until May. At the earliest.
