Just to put a period at the end of this thread, I was able to ride her hard over the weekend. My buddy “Smizo” who did the work on my plane hosted a “Biplane Fly-In” with a Surface to 4000’ aerobatic box overhead. Smizo and Jimmy “Proton” (lots of nick-names among the group) burned enough smoke oil that a handful of locals came out to see the source of the fire. It turned into a little impromptu airshow.
Man, that’s an awesome looking plane. I am really happy for you!
Thanks! I was in good company. All of the planes were outstanding examples of workmanship. Mine by comparison was in the low end of the group. (But I would argue that she flies better of course!)
If you are an RC guy, how’s this for workmanship?! The little sibling flew as well. I was folding my tent and looked up to see it doing acro over the runway. For at least a couple of seconds I thought I was watching the real thing.
RC + real one is cool!
I’ve seen this at the Hahnweide air show (at least I think it was the same guys), they did a synchronous program with a model and a real plane. They spaced them so they looked roughly the same size.
Now that sounds like a fantastic day!
