It’s just a 3D model animation. Doesn’t mean it will in game.
Might be able to. We can in the P-47 (and I’ve had to use it more times than I should admit).
I see this as nowhere near completion. 2025?
Hmmmm…DCS Summer Sale ends 07/16…Duxford Air Show starts same date
Conspiracy Theory Alert
I think We will get some Big News about F4U,Marianas WWII and Possibly F6F during The Air Show…It’s just been far too quiet concerning these upcoming modules…Duxford is a Perfect time to Launch.
If it can it might be for best glide, or simply because the same prop/hub/governor was reused on a multi engine aircraft and they didn’t reinvent the wheel.
I’ve flown several SE aircraft that have engine failure checklists that include taking the prop to as close to feathered as possible in order to improve glide.
My best guess for F4U release is early 2021… I haven’t dared to say a new estimate out loud since
Doesnt the mooney missile have a fully feathering prop? I didnt think it was that unusual in SEP planes
Mooney Missile? Man. I am living under a rock.
Looked it up. M20J. I gave a BFR in ene once. No idea it was called a “Missile”.
I’d never heard of it either, but sure enough:
In the Missile conversion, it has a 75-inch Hartzell three-bladed Scimitar prop which is full-feathering, as in the typical twin. Obviously, this is unusual for a single but follows the same design brief Rocket Engineering uses in its 350-HP Rocket mod. The full-feathering prop is touted as a safety feature, since a feathered prop will extend the glide in the event of an engine failure. The $99,000 Missile Mod includes a new eight-point engine mount canted 2.3 degrees to the right to counteract torque, a new exhaust system, a modified 231 cowling to accommodate the obviously much longer engine and the three-blade prop.

Sounds like fun if you can fit into it. I had enough trouble sitting with my head against the ceiling of the Bonanza, never flown a Mooney.
I think that’s only if you spend the extra $99K. The do have a reputation for being fast stock though.
I think feathering propellers in single engine aircraft are rare, not counting motor gliders of course. But the Grob 115D that I flew in flightschool could almost feather the prop. We did this in engine failure training simply by pulling the prop RPM lever all the way back. You could feel the aircraft accelerate as you did so and the glide performance increased significantly. It wasn’t a full prop-stop feather, but close enough.
I know it’s been said before, but detail like this makes me miss the museum view from Janes WWII Fighters. I wish the main menu in DCS let you look around and view your selected module. Even better would be clickable areas with historical or technical info.
The chart table and whiz wheel look interesting. Curious to see how they’re implemented in this and the A-1.
OMFG, it looks so freaking good!
The Engine Detail looks Fantastic. I bought the MilViz to treat my Corsair anxiety till it releases…
