Those are Leathernecks and a Corsair, but it’s still not the Leatherneck Corsair.
Since we still don’t have any new info, about the module…
Aerofly FS2 has a nice Corsair too. It’s actually quite lovely in VR. You really get an impression of the size of the thing. And looking down into the floorless cockpit is quite amazing.
Unfortunately there’s no war going on in FS2 and there are no carriers. Meigs is in there, though. Guess that’s as close as it gets to a ship…
Our development of the F4U-1D Corsair continues. After VFAT, there was an extensive improvements to the airframe’s 3d model, while at the same time adding the final elements of the onboard equipment within the cockpit. Recently our coder has implemented the radio equipment, which we have described in one of the previous updates. Within the limits of the DCS World environment, we took an effort to implement a Ye/Zb radio navigation system used by U.S. aircraft during WW2 as means to navigate to the desired aircraft carrier, and later to airfields.
As we’ve mentioned a few months ago, our intention is to deliver the F4U-1D not only as a module but as an entire package containing a few more features, including an aircraft carrier and Ai units. Exact contents are not decided yet and they depend on many things, but apart from the Essex Class Aircraft Carrier we’ve been working on some ground units to build a very basic environment for the F4U-1D. A variety of such assets include the Japanese Type 89, Type 95 and Type 97 tanks, Type 94 truck (in a few versions) and the 25 mm Type 96 gun, 75 mm Type 88 cannons. A complete package of contents will be disclosed closer to the release date!![
I’m ashamed how much Dr Who I watch… it’s my guilty secret…
But now you lot know about it i suppose its just guilty pleasure. So I might as well tell you a funny story to redeem myself. I was working on a site in Yorkshire driving a bulldozer in a quarry for a friend for the week to help him out. The only entertainment I had was 6 episodes of Dr Who on my phone (pre Netflix) I nodded off at lunchtime and promptly had a dream about weeping Angels…
My mate jumped up on the track of the dozer to wake me and touched my arm and I let the most girlish and glass shattering little girl scream out he had ever heard. He said it was a similar noise someone would make if they sat on a piece of glass. He didn’t stop laughing all day. I nearly had heart failure. Bloody weeping angels
Yeah…the weeping Angles are, IMHO, the scariest of the Dr Who villains. Sure the Daleks and Cyber men have their own brand of evil and fear but the whole “don’t blink” thing… that’s upsetting and a visceral level
The Dr Who “phenomena” here in the States grew gradually. In the 1970-1980 you could only see it on Public Broadcasting Television (PBS) - commercial free although they have annoying fun raising telethons a couple times a year. I really didn’t get into Dr Who until the “Tom Baker” era…don’t think it was him per se, more likely Romana and K-9…no…definitely Romana! (Lalla Ward)…had a big crush on her.
Its August next weekend. Can You beleive it! I am ready for another R2800 powered, 4k Kg, Gun totting Monster. Wait, I havent mastered the last R2800 powered, 4k Kg, Gun totting Monster. Ok, still I want it. LOL I remember someone in IL2 saying they wanted some high perf. fighter… maybe it was the Bearcator the Tigercat… Oleg repied “You couldnt handle the Bearcat!” It was too funny. You had to be there.
Seriously, Any Updates? This is an exciting project.
I personally haven’t seen anything about it since the last update in May, and as a Corsair fan I have been trying to follow it. It sounded like a lot of work for the coder and 3D modelling was on the plate for the Corsair as of May, and I’m not sure how Leatherneck/M3 split their staff over their projects. MiG-21 has had some work lately too…
I’ll be very Honest,If We don’t see anything"Officially" through The DCS site who grants the licence agreement then…Unfortunately We really have nothing to go on.
The Pollychop Kiowa started in a very similar fashion…Pollychop keep posting videos/screenshot on FB and other sites.with zero acknowledgment from DCS…and actually a member saying it wasn’t a reality.
But a few Newsletters into 2020 DCS in fact Acknowledged The Warrior would be coming to DCS Fully Licensed Bell Helicopters.
Well, at least now I know. I can stop looking for it. Just does not make any sense that they tease this and 9 months later its like, “Oh I got nothing”… I was concerned where the Corsair would fit in… (Like with the I-16) but then they teased a lot of Japanese equipment. I was thinking “Ok, Pacific coming Up” Then the Marianas was anounced… But it was a modern map (another step back)…
I sit and I wonder sometimes… Where is ED with WW2? Where is the direction? And why do I not dedicate myself to IL2 when it comes to WW2?
Patience…
