Just uploaded the Lima Site 85 scenery to fs.to.

The landing strip down in the valley is about 700 ft, there is a helipad on the strip as well as up on the Phou Pha Thi mountain.

Impressive work!

Thanks. I made an extensive use of 3rd party objects libraries so it was just essentially a matter of research and objects placement.

No advanced stuff :grinning:

Cracking on with my Neofly company in PNG - I had taken out a loan mainly for the Kodiak, where I left off previously, but had enough spare cash to also grab an AN-2. I was very surprised at how cheap it was, considering it can carry nearly 3,000lb.

So I loaded up the An-2 and as usual found that there just not enough jobs to get even near MTOW, so I topped up the rest with commodities from the market, having used the tool to check how much profit could be made at the destination. I stood to make around $8,000, which doesn’t sound much, but when you consider my normal pay for a job in this size of aircraft is between $1,200 and $4,000 it ain’t bad.

First, though, spot the difference between screenshots by Pico, via Virtual Desktop:

…and those from Valve and Index:

With cropping to a reasonable aspect ratio/size I can barely squeeze out an 800x600 picture from the Index!

Anyway, off I went - the An-2 has awesome STOL characteristics

I’m well up long before half the dirt runway is passed. Even with a full load. Then it’s one thing - climb, climb and climb again! At a slow and cumbersome 90km/h

Sometimes the ridges were just too high and I had to go on lengthy detours,

My main concern was keeping the temperature in the green - or right at the edge of it!

Until eventually being able to see over the coming ridges and peaks…

And then knowing sod’s law would raise it’s ugly head as I have to descend into the low plain, through a ton of cloud…

Eventually I broke through without meeting anything solid…

On arrival, I had a bit of a quandary - where was the runway?

It could be in either direction - and the available GPS and map info didn’t shed any light on it - just the length. So I did a few flyby’s

…and took a punt…

Just as I was on final approach I took a glance to the left…

…and decided that the other one looked more likely! (never occurred to me that maybe both were runways!)… and so I went round again and landed on the other bit…

Neofly HQ was happy, anyway - except I dropped the last couple of feet just a bit too sharply and didn’t get paid for the two fragile jobs on board! :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

400fpm touchdown apparently, double the 200fpm required.

Anyway, I swallowed hard, loaded up for the next flight and was off again - but this time I had plenty of time to climb to the appropriate altitude, well above the peaks. Neofly told me the flight was 38nm but FS insisted it was 48 :astonished: Hmmm

Then of course, the inevitable cloud covering the descent to the moutainside strip destination…

but the approach was otherwise clear and the strip was long enough to make an easy landing…

Ah! I recognised this strip - it’s the one I mentioned previously, remembered from FSX Bushtrekker and the drop at the end of the strip!

This was going to be fun - or so I thought, after loading up the next jobs and turning the aircraft around…

However, no such luck - the An-2 is far too agile for that…

Boo sucks! I remember landing and taking off from this strip in FSX in an ATR42! Honest!
I’ll have to dig out the screenshot.

So on my way to the next strip - another mountainside one, and inevitably with a load of trees covering the approach path…

there was, however, just about room for a small one…

Down safely and ‘home’ for the night, at last. Time for a cuppa.

This bush flying lark is a laugh a minute!

The RDAF AS-550 Fennec livery dream has been rekindled.

Now I have it in game, but I need to figure out how to edit the default AS350_FUSE_COMP.PNG.dds so I can get the correct matte/satin finish.

There are also a couple of issues with the thumpnail.jpg and the REG_NUM.PNG.DDS.dds files.

The reg number is not showing in the hanger and there is a white stripe above the thumbnail in the hanger.

When the finish is correct, I will probably adjust the overall color.

The Azur-Poly C-160 Transall. Two thumbs up from me on this one…well worth picking up if you like transport aircraft.

Some shots from a flight I did this evening, departing RAF Brize Norton, transiting over to fly the Mach Loop and then landing at RAF Valley:

Wow, that’s an impressive looking aircraft!

I was in two minds about picking it up because I still want to spend some time with the Caribou. The initial reviews were very favorable though, and seeing as we don’t have a decent C130, I found myself clicking on Buy & Install. There are areas that still need to be fleshed out. I have yet to figure out how to get power to the busses from the GPU. I figure I should be able to get hydraulics powered up for the cargo ramp without having to fire up the APU.

The manual is pretty good and there are official tutorial videos available on YouTube (maybe I should watch them a few files). It seems the developer put a lot of effort into the airplane.

I figured out how to get the matte finish.

Now there are some details to adjust, such as reduce the shine on certain parts and how to remove the mirrors from the front. They have newer been on Danish military Fennecs.

I also want to figure out if it possible to create RDAF, ARMY (Hæren) and ARMY HeliTOW (If we get it) categories to the “Pick Aircraft” screens and having the liveries with different reg numbers in each category.
