Multiplayer Coop for the family-ish

Haha…we haven’t tried anything yet other than MSFS…they have been so enamored with it. I preloaded their Steam library with the following titles though:

  • FIFA 2021
  • Generation Zero
  • Wreckfest
  • Portal 2
  • Don’t Starve Together
  • Elite Dangerous
  • American Truck Simulator
  • Raft
  • PGA Tour 2K21
  • Project Cars 2
  • MudRunner American Wilds
  • IL-2 1946
  • Wargame Franchise
  • Dirt 4
  • Dirt Rally 2
  • Battlezone
  • Space Engineers

Arma 3 with:

  • Tanks DLC
  • Jets DLC
  • Helicopters DLC
  • Zeus DLC
  • Apex DLC
  • Marksmen DLC

And DCS World with:

  • Nevada
  • C-101
  • Persian Gulf
  • Yak-52
  • F-5 II

So they have quite the inventory (I tried not to look at how much money I spent on them for Christmas :see_no_evil: - but they had a rough 2020 with the lockdown and thought they deserved it - and I did get most of those items at anywhere from 50% to 90% off in the sales…)

I keep telling Chris, if he did some sort of online adoption certificate via Patreon for us, we’d all sign up. I want @BeachAV8R to be my Santa Dad! :santa:

(seriously though, two very fortunate boys)

Haha…well…it is really a selfish motivation you know? I mean…if the boys are simming with me…I feel less guilty about sitting at my computer.

…and…and I could be totally wrong about this…I’m just really happy they are doing something with a bit more depth to it than jumping around in Fortnite all evening. Yes, they will still play that too I’m sure…but I’m really excited that THEY are excited about their new computers and MSFS. They are yelling down to me right now at this second to ask me to go fly with them…so I will…for only a short period though - I’ve gotta work tomorrow morning.

So if anyone has me as a friend in MSFS…you can join us:

KAIBEAR2010 and JRWKM are their tags…I’m not sure where they are picking to fly tonight. I’m still in the informal…“lets just do anything” phase until I have a few days off. Then we are going to maybe introduce them to the full cold start and what exactly magnetos and fuel pumps and mixtures do. They have already figured out flaps on their own…it is really fun to watch.

On that note, keep Rocket League away from your kids, unless you want to teach them first hand the effects of addiction.

I am a classically trained US Lacrosse level 3 coach. Played off and on for over 40 years from prep school to old guys league. Have been through decades of theory and evolution, including the Positive Coaching Alliance. After all of that, the current thinking up through U11 is to basically give them sticks and soft balls, put them on a small court soft grass, mixed gender, shoes optional, no gear, and let them figure it out. I had to learn to relax and not over-coach my girls, which is basically sit down and shut up dad. It’s amazing how fast they pick it up and how creative they are naturally. It’s a beautiful thing.
