So time for my first 757 flight. BGTL to KJFK. Little dark in thule but the plane is ready for crew show…
Using X planes handy dandy flashlight so I can turn power on
Once we are powered up we call for PAX and Fuel
Once loaded I call for a push
Push back complete time to start engines,
So this is where I messed up. I left the air pac on when I started engines. Left engine stated but the starter valve got stuck, SO I had to reload the jet and try again. This time I followed the check list.
On taxi…
And ready to line up and take off
As we climbed and headed south the sky got lighter
As has been the case recently, I descended way to quick, speed brakes should have been a hint,
Following the Hudson, I think
Gear down as we pass Lagurdia
When I left Thule, 5 hours prior, active runways were 13L/R when I got to KJFK active runways were 22L/R
So I had to change the flight plan a little. Also forgot I had to set the ILS freq(too much time in the 777) SO I ended up hand flying the landing, which much success!
At the gate,
Fun stuff! I am going to love the 757, I did find that the cabin gets cold at FL370 in Canada during the winter.
Here I am, after half the distance, over Powidz 33rd Air Base (military), hopefully they didnt mind I crossed their airspace.
What concerned me more was the fuel state after first half and something = 3%! Hey, I forgot something I think… to lean the mix… too much thrust there also
Then, like the fuel was not enough, the weather changed dramatically. Overcast everywhere. At least base was not laying on the ground. Hey look, there is the EPBY. Fuel = 1%
